In a country where more than half of the population dreams of or has at least once dreamed of being an actor, it is not surprising that models, singers, tiktokers, starkids.. everyone jumps to try a hand in acting at the first opportunity. Doesn't surprise me a bit.
But i have always maintained that people come into this business for two reasons -
1. To contribute to the craft, for the love of the craft.
2. For fame & money.
The ones that are in it for the love of craft, they stand out in the crowd of wannabes. They come prepared, know their skills and polish them as needed, when needed. Even in their debut, they may appear amateur but still show some spunk. The example i can think of is Imran Ashraf. The first few dramas i saw of him, he was in supporting roles but his acting chops were on point. Same for Sajal, Ahad, Mawra, Saba. Look at Fawad, he was a non-actor who forayed into acting and he was good from get go. Sanam Saeed is another fine example.
If the models/hosts wish to transition into acting, the least they should do is prep before debuting. More than them, i blame the producers and makers who just cast a popular face based on their beauty or popularity whether or not they are worthy of the acting opportunity. They should at least do a screen test to ensure there is a minimum level of acting skills whether it is models, star kids or show hosts.
But if fame is what these debutantes seek, then you will end up getting non-deserving non-actors in lead roles like Armeena Khan, Aiza Khan, Adnan Malik etc.
Thank you for joining the discussion. 😊
I agree that almost everyone dreams of becoming an actor. I also think that acting career has a longer life than modelling and singing.. that's why models and singers who want to secure their future become actors. Wjile in the past many models made a smooth translation from modelling to acting, like: Sanam Saeed, Adnan Siddiqui , Mehwish and even Ayeza.. many of the new generation models couldn't impress as actors.. because as you said they weren't prepared well for it.
Let's face it. Acting isn't a job. It requires lots of talent and dedication.. it deals with feelings, and life experiences, and it effects viewers in a direct way. So like you said , drama makers should only take those who have the pasic qualifications of acyors. It hurts to see undeserving actors as leads in dramas when they fail to impress.. for this maybe many models faded from dramas or don't leading roles anymore, like: Eshal Fayyaz , Abdullah Ijaz , Anam Gohar, Shehzaad Noor, Sadia Khan.
Do you know that Adnan Malik acyually studied Film making in the USA before becoming an actor?.😲This is a gr8 example that even learning acting and film making can't assure you become a good actor unless you have the talent, passion and acting skills!
