Weekend episode- age factor

I am a silent member of the forum, I don’t post on regular basis. However, something happened in this weekend episode that has made me to write this post. I am just appalled at the age discrimination when it comes to females. I don’t like Sonali Phogat, but the way she has been mocked for her age and liking for a younger guy has made me sick. The way Salman Khan was smiling when he talked about her liking for Ali (maa beta ka Rishta), it was horrible and then this weekend Harsh and Raghav made fun of her age. She is 41 or maybe 42, Ejaz khan is 45 and Abhinav is 38. I have never seen Ejaz khan or Abhinav treated this way based on their age. Yes, they call Ejaz chicha but he was not mocked for his relationship with PP. I am just sick to my stomach, she did not deserve this, no woman does In our culture if a woman turns 40 she is labeled as old whereas a man in his 60’s is still considered a hunk!

It is quite shameful but even Salman mocks women's ages. On the BB stage, he has commented before to an actress "don't worry you will play my mother soon" (even though she was half his age).

Thanks for making this post. .The was Sonali was treated for her attraction towards ali by so called strong, feminist celeberities was totally shameful and uncalled for.

That was unexpected but not bizzarre or funny as the lady was quite open and unapologetic abt her attraction. Who were these people to remind her of mother status or her age.Guess sonali comes from more liberal and accepting atmosphere.

Ali and sidharth gave her due respect and love,I hope others learn from that.

I agree with your post, this season has been the lowest in lots of things and one being age. Be it Nikki termed as kid and compared to 14 yr old or Ejaz termed as old man.

But with Sonali, I feel shes at fault, because the love angle she started was fake and to stay in the game. Also from not being around Ali to following head over heels for him in one go was quiet an act. So I think they were trying to say its fake and looks bad but I agree age should not have been used.

Agree, I felt bad for Sonali. Thank you for bringing this up. Most of the people in the social media bring feminism and bla bla issue for these fake TV bahus but conveniently ignore such disrespect to other woman.

to thop her love on some boy who is in a committed relationship with someone known to her was opportunistic and selfish

if a male politician contestant would have done that to say Nikki or Jasmin we would have been up in arms

after getting some negative feedback she clarified that it was attraction which is okay

What if Ali was not comfortable with this whole mess?

He handled it sensibly which is more than can be said for Sonali

You are missing the real topic here. It is not about her attraction for Aly was real or fake. It is about age shaming of a woman in public platform.

iss show mein age shaming is double edged sword

SK as well as Aly Arshi have favored EK because he is older

he is a contestant and should be treated equal

I don’t think the ladies cared one way or another about her age

this is a reality show and age does not matter so why make an issue

Exactly, this is my point! I don't care if Sonali's liking was fake (probably it was) or real, my issue is when she talked about this she was labeled as a "mom", maa beta relationship, whereas men don't get this treatment. I think it's a general trend, where old women with younger partners are called 'cougars' and older men with younger women are called 'studs'. It's sad and shameful but unfortunately this is the way of the world.

Even if we leave Ali out of the equation, I am just dumbfounded that why everyone treated Sonali as if she was a grandmother. She is maybe 3 or 4 years older than Abhinav and he is considered a hunk and she a "maa".

And again, I am NOT a Sonali fan, I actually disliked her, but I am a female :)
