Even with Shivaay, at that point the lines were blurry. So many discussions on how his actions were not ok. SSO did redeem himself, I agree. This lead on the other hand is not just toxic... he has done unforgivable things.

I've heard the salt show is a mixture of all gul shows - ipk, Ib and even Jinn.

(Everything aside, the wedding scenes of Shivika were pictured and executed so well. The cinematography was on point!)

Apparently that's a Gul speciality too - just mixing up elements of all her shows into the new ones 😆 apparently IB also had elements of QH, IPK etc. I never watched those shows so the comparison thankfully never came up for me. But it's clear when other shows copy IB 😆

Yeah that first wedding was lit, cinematography and scale-wise obviously not the best context, but visually stunning. Makes me sad that their second wedding was so understated with awful styling (tho Anika's purple look was lovely, Shivaay looked like a Daler Mehndi knock-off 🤣). And their third wedding in Redux was even weirder 🤪

I honestly have no issues with showing toxic male lead..but but but...you have to like really ahve to show that character arc. You gotta show them repenting and improving and bringing about that change in their behaviour and life.

That's what i liked about IB. Shivaay was the worst kind of assh**e you could imagine but he learned, he changed and most importantly that change in his behaviour was not shown as a track. It was just happening in the background of all their weird tracks🤭..a very gradual but realistic change!!

It's not just the hero who is crazy..the fl is also starking mad..if I'm right (I've watched a few promo clips on insta) the fl comes back to assert her rights as his wife after he physically abuses her but since he is not ready to accept her due to the mark on her face (that he put) so she lets him get married to another woman and the fl becomes servant to him and his 2nd wife!!!🤪

Wow definitely a progressive show 👍🏼 great messages being given 👍🏼 I would rather go to the moon twice and fall through ceilings twice than watch that

This guy was dangling from tree branch and that is when he got his Hail Mary moment I think 🤔 but who knows they will show his redemption now. But I just don’t know how can come back from murdering someone who was actually a positive character *shrugs* SSO never went that far from what I remember seeing.

He wasn't a goody-two-shoes, but his "villainous image" was for the most part just a façade he encouraged. Even now, as they've twisted his character (😭) he's still miles better than some of these so-called MLs, who do those toxic things in their full hosh.

Exactly they tried that but thank god they didn’t go down that trope. I love this shade of grey in his character it’s what has me hooked. I can still see it now BUT I am missing the sanki love and obsession of his with bani

This is true. You have to have the awareness (as a show) that you're portraying a lead who is or has toxic tendencies, and then you have to show a gradual and believable shift away from that. Proper redemption and repenting is required, he can't just wake up one day and be like "mummy, I'm cured!".

God I hated Shivaay at times, but by the end, you really see how much he has grown and changed for the better. Like you say, it wasn't one single "ML REDEEMS HIMSELF" track, it was just happening in the background of all the other things going on in their lives. It was a daily process, with some set backs, but essentially moving forward all the time.

I still remember Shivaay's reaction when he learned the truth of the Daksh situation. He was devastated with the way he'd behaved, and he spent a long time disparaging himself. It was after that really that his shift towards fully trusting Anika began.

I'd say there's a similar case for Veer too. Not that he needed redemption, exactly, but that his arc was about moving from obsessing about Bani to moulding in their relationship in a way that allowed her the freedom to fall for him (rather than forcing it). He tried the heavy-handed tactics and then he just settled into the relationship by giving her patience and time and love, all the while respecting her choices even if he disagreed. Like Bani once said, he understood the importance of their marriage, and moulded himself to fit within it without worrying about his ego.

It was lalit mohan man!! His cinematography and sense of direction is no joke...even the worst of the episodes are enjoyable because of how they were shot!!

I have watched Qubool hai but only till KSG was a part of it. And yes, you can see his elements in shivaay, no idea about the barun sobti show, tried to watch a few times since everyone said their chemistry is explosive but i just couldn't, no reason!!

I wonder what exactly was shivani shirali's thought process while styling..she went from shivika's ahmazing dhaadi ka joda to that weird bronze and blue atrocity!!

I miss that sanki love too. I hope we get to see it this weekend (also I need his memories back now 😭. I fear the writers are gonna leave that until the final ep 😡)

😆 I'm sure she was on some kind of nasha. I for one found it kind of fun (in a "this is a bonkers show anyway" kind of way) that the family all started wearing the same colours at parties etc., but the actual clothes got progressively worse 😆 I think at one point poor Daadi was dressed like Sesame Street's Big Bird 🤣

That's why, even with the ever decreasing fabric used for Bani's blouses and the impracticality of her sarees in general, I still much, much prefer the styling on this show.

If I had to pick my dream team for a potential new SharBhi show (oh, if only 😆), I'd go for Lalit Mohan on direction, Tripti Arora on styling, and as for production house, I guess Gul wins over Ekta (the Mukta factor drags you down, soz EK 😆) but only if they can find a decent writer (who did not write Redux 🤪) .

Now is that too much to ask? 🤣
