@Hinna: When you finish watching a show there is a feeling of accomplishment because at least you know what everyone else is raving about.

Crazy Rich Asians also had quite a few boring parts. The book didn’t work for me because the main leads didn’t work for me. I might just listen to the 2nd book as an audiobook just to know how Astrid’s story progresses.

Most of the books (physical copies) I own are classics or books I know I will like and would want to own. I usually don’t buy latest releases, I download them and read them online. Also, one fifth of the books I own are second hand copies. I still feel extremely guilty once the initial rush of buying a book wears off. So now I’ve decided to not buy any books till May and I should finish the ones I haven’t read.

@Shanam: I made a mistake. I don’t have over 100 unread books, I have over 80 šŸ˜›

I own a little over 100 books. I usually exchange my old books which I know I won’t read again, and buy new or second hand ones. I usually try to not have more than 100 books because otherwise I won’t have place to keep them. I don’t like keeping my books in piles on the floor. I also don’t like hoarding too many (says the person with 100 books šŸ˜›) so I usually exchange the ones I don’t read and try not to buy books if I won’t have place to keep them. Now my shelves are full and my TBR is overflowing and hence the self imposed book buying ban.

I started reading Rebecca last night and I agree with Hinna & Diya, it is a little difficult to get into but now I think I am getting a hang of the language.

The main couple didnt interest me either, they were mostly boring and there were other too many characters roaming around which didnt help either. Astrids story was way better.

I guess I am getting used to it but its still a bit confusing. Also I am not interested in the story yet.

You'll get help. šŸ˜†

I'm simply ignoring all those plants and flowers now. She just goes on and on about them.

I've also noticed how the protagonist keeps reiterating her points every few paragraphs, and while I'm liking the overall story, this is something I don't like. 😳

The language does get better after a chapter or two. But it still drags a bit in some parts. I just want the story to move forward, but I guess it's a character-driven story and not a plot-driven one. I'm still liking the story though, even with all the complaints I have. I can see why people love it so much.
