BUNDI

In 1193 A.D. when Prithviraj Chauhan was defeated by Sultan Mohammed Ghauri, some Chauhan nobles seeked shelter in Mewar and became allies to the Rana while other young warriors move towards the Chambal valley and overpowered the Meena and Bhil tribals-thus establishing their own kingdom of Hadoti. Later, two branches of Hadas formed two separates states of Kota and Bundi, on either side of the river Chambal. Bundi is surrounded by the Aravalli hills on the three sides and is circumscribed by a massive wall with four gateways.

It's a captivating, friendly little town with a temple on every corner and narrow lanes of Brahmin-blue houses leading off the main bazaar.
Bundi was the capital of a major princely state during the Rajput's heyday. The elegant, crumbling palace houses the famous Bundi murals, as well as not-so-famous inordinate numbers of bats and pigeons.

RANTHAMHORE
In the 13th century A.D. Govinda, the grandson of Prithviraj Chauhan took over the reign of the land. Later his successor Vagabhatta, beautified the city and built a noteworthy temple at Jhain. In the middle of the 15th century A.D. Rana Kumbha captured the fort and gifted it to his son to be occupied later by the Hada Rajputs of Bundi and Mughal Emperors Akbar and Aurangazeb. Mughal Emperor Shah Alam gifted it to Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh I of Jaipur in 1754 and since then it was maintained as the hunting preserve of the Maharaja. Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh were part of the royal hunting who stayed here.
CHOTTORGARH

Chittorgarh is one of the most fiercely contested seats of power in India.About 72 miles (115 km) east of Udaipur, stands Chittor. With its formidable fortifications,Bappa Rawal, the legendary founder of the Sisodia dynasty, received Chittor in the middle of the eighth century, as part of the last Solanki princess's dowry. It crowns a seven-mile- long hill, covering 700 acres (280 hectares), with its fortifications, temples, towers and palaces.

From the eighth to the 16th century, Bappa Rawal's descendants ruled over an important kingdom called Mewar stretching from Gujarat to Ajmer. But during these eight centuries the seemingly impregnable Chittor was surrounded, overrun, and sacked three times.

Sacks of Chittor: In 1303 Allauddin khilji, Sultan of Delhi, intrigued by tales of the matchless beauty of Padmini, Rani of Chittor, of her wit and charm, decided to verify this himself. His armies surrounded Chittor, and the sultan sent a message to Rana Rattan Singh, Padmini's husband, to say that he would spare the city if he could meet its famous queen. The compromise finally reached was that the sultan could look upon Padmini's reflection if he came unarmed into the fort. Accordingly, the sultan went up the hill and glimpsed a reflection of the beautiful Padmini standing by a lotus pool. He thanked his host who courteously escorted Allauddin down to the outer gate-where the sultan's men waited in ambush to take the rana hostage.

==Muhammad Ghuri's military successes: In 1186, Muhammad Ghuri of Ghur (*wikipedia*; *1911 encyclopedia*), west of Ghazni, takes Lahore from the Ghaznavids, thus finishing off their dynasty; he commemorates his victory by building the "Minar-e Jam" (*wikipedia*; *N. H. Dupree*; *Dr. V. Thewalt*), which soon help to inspire the Qutb Minar. Then in two battles at Tarain he first loses to (1191), then defeats (1192), the Rajput leader Prithviraj Chauhan. He moves on to defeat the Raja of Kannauj and take Banaras (1194). Discussion: *Ikram Ch. 3*.
==Qutb ud-Din Aibak occupies Delhi (1192-93): By Muhammad Ghuri's order, his military slave-general Qutb ud-Din Aibak occupies the newly-conquered Delhi and governs it as a part of the Ghurid kingdom. Qutb ud-Din inherits the fort recently renamed by Prithviraj Chauhan the "Qila Rai Pithaura" (the former Lal Kot); he considers some building projects of his own.
==Hazrat Mu'in ud-Din Chishti arrives (c.1190), spends time in Lahore and Multan, and finally settles down in Ajmer (Prithviraj's former capital); he dies there in 1236. Popular with the common people of all religions, he is called "Gharib-Navaz" (Protector of the Poor), and his dargah in Ajmer draws many visitors of all religions. The Chishtis are the most widespread Sufi order in South Asia, and the only order to have all their major dargahs (tombs of pirs) located in South Asia. Discussion: *Ali Asani*; *Jim Lochtefeld*. (*Routes*)
==Adhai Din ka Jhompra, Ajmer, c.1199-1200: In Prithviraj's former capital, Qutb ud-Din Aibak, on behalf of Mu'izz ud-Din Muhammad Ghuri, converts parts of an existing Jain temple into a mosque which he calls the "Hut of Two and a Half Days." (*Routes*)

The history of the Amer-Jaipur region can be traced way back to the 11th century when Prince Dulha Rai left his patrimony of Narwar for Dausa in Eastern Rajasthan. Married to a daughter of a Chauhan Chief of Moran, he with the help of the army of his in-laws captured Dausa and Bhandarej and consolidated his position further by annexing Manch (Ramgarh),and defeating Bargujar chief of Deoti (Rajorgarh- Paranagar region). A very brave name, his chivalrous acts are narrated in the bardic tales and also in a love lyric originally composed by Kushal labh, a Jain, resident of Jaisalmer in 16th cent. His son and successor Kakil Dev was equally brave. He established his control over the Amber-Bairath region, built the Ambikeshwar Mahadeva Temple, and made Amber his capital.

The city of Amer continued to grow as each successor began to consolidate his position and extend the frontiers of the kingdom. Prince Pajwan, who fought alongside the valiant Prithvi Raj in the campaigns against the Chandelas of Mahoha, Jaichand of Kanauj and in the battle of Tarain and Maharaja Prithvi Raj, who led the Rajput confederacy alongwith Rana Sanga of Mewar against Babar were some of the brave Kachhwaha rulers who fought valiantly for the glory of Amer.

However, it was under Maharaja Bharmal, the fourth son of Prithvi Raj that Amer became a very powerful Rajput state and began to play an important role in the subsequent history of Rajasthan. He was the first Rajput king who realized the importance of allying with Akbar- the great Mughal king. This alliance, which continued for well over two centuries proved to be of great help to both the parties. While the Mughals gained unflinching loyalty and great administrative skill from the Kachhwaha Rajputs, the rulers of Amber by allying with the Mughals were able to give the much needed peace and prosperity to their people, which in the long way went in establishing Amer-Jaipur as one of the most thriving city in the State.

i hope you all get it
