Sai agreed for the marriage just because Virat said 'Yes'?

From the day when at the gruhpravesh, Sai said, "Dekha Aaba, kya ho raha hai mere sath! ....jisake jo jee mei aa raha hai suna raha hai woh bhi ek aisi galati ke liye jo mei karanahi nahi chahati thi", the question that was hovering over me was, did Sai marry Virat only because he said 'Yes'? Is it that simple? A decision like marriage taken based on one firm 'Yes' of a person?

I feel any decision taken has layers of motives behind it, some weak but visible and some strong but imperceptible at the time to the world and the person as well.

Sai, the fighter: we have witnessed Sai as strong fierce woman taking on things best to her capacity. She has fought against the villain and authorities ( ACP) alike when she wanted to. Aaba had to lock her in the safe house by duping her, or she would have fought with him too. Then why she did not fight the decision of 'marriage' pushed on her against her wish fiercely? She had said, 'Mei in logoko mana nahi kar paoongi' referring to people she already knew whose love was all a 'sham' which splintered when faced with responsibility.("Aaba ke jatehi aapne muzhe paraya kar diya"). The resistance to Virat was too weak to digest coming specially from Sai.The reasoning she gave about her inability to deny it to Aaba's friends, as a SOLE reason to put the responsibility of the decision of marriage only on Virat was could not convince to me.

Sai, the perceptive: Sai, is extremely perceptive person. The 'jasoos' in her makes inferences from the things that she sees or hears. When angry part of her seems completely out of control, part of her is still observing and infering things which are happening around her.

(a) Faith : Sai had faith on Virat from day one due to her Aaba's faith in him. Virat, then by saving Sai, proved his mantle. Sai started believing in him by herself too.

(b)Sincerity: Sai, after her outburst at him for leaving GC and leaving her alone, observed Virat's sincerity towards what he does. Shifting her Aaba for health reasons after forced marriage rescue, protecting her for a day during her Aaba's absence, taking Aaba's care in her absence.

(c) Care: Sai, always was cared by Virat, albeit beyond his duty. Sai is not only perceptive but has strong woman instincts (which made her make the inference about Virat-Pakhi). Her sharp mind had taken in this inclination of Virat to care for her, protect her, sometimes even against her wish.

Sai witnessed Virat standing by her side, after Aaba's demise, like a rock even after being pushed away repeatedly withstanding her angry outburst, vile accussations. That was the level of care, love Virat had for her. She did not miss it for sure.

Virat had already shown caring gestures for her inspite she being rude to him in face. From the 'Dudhwala' incidence she already had developed fond for care she received from Virat and part of her wanting the continuation of 'Virat wanting to care for her and protect her'.

Agar koi ham kuchh na chahate hue bhi hamari 'care' karein, to thode dinoke baad, unake 'care karaneki adat'ki hamein adat ho jati hai. This is exactly what happened with Sai.If someone cares for you, even when you are resisting it, you know how strongly the person cares for you, Sai knew it.

Whenever Virat displayed indifference towards her, Sai showed her anger and deep satisfaction when Virat cared for her.

(a) After marriage, when Virat said, "Khana khalo Sai!'.That was like a whip of cool breeze for her. But next moment, Virat turned all indifferent, after Pakhi's entry in the room and left without turning back. Sai kept looking at him with expectation till the end, but when he did not, she broke down.

(b) On her vidaai, when Virat said, "Didi ko bolo rona band karein", she calmed down,as all she wanted was to feel 'Virat's care'.

(b) After her gruhpravesh, Virat told Aai, "Aai,please Sai ko khilado, usane kalase kuchh nahi khaya", she showed the same satisfaction. But when the next moment Virat left the place, showing all indifference due to his internal turmoil, Sai felt hurt at the lack of it. This was picked up by Ashwini, who tended to her saying, "Are hum hai na..(to care for you)".

(c) Sai displayed the satisfaction finding Virat at her bedside, after her suicide and displayed anger at him for leaving GC, in the first place, "Jaiye aap.Apaki 'best friend' aap ka intejaar kar rahi hogi."

Marriage, 'deal' marriage or 'no' marriage, Sai wanted Virat to care for her. This is one of the motives I felt was one of the deep undercurrents for which she did not rebell the proposal of marriage as she could have.

Sai, the delicate: We have witnessed Sai, mostly in all fierce mode, fighting battles that came her way. But all her strength had a foundation that was her 'Parivaar', mainly her Aaba and Usha mavashi. Sai, all of just 18 had a deep requisite of the 'Parivaar' without which she couldn't imagine her life and couldn't dream.

1. The first inkling she got that she does not have any 'parivaar' left in GC, when people she thought could become her 'Parivaar' in Aaba's absence, all ganged up on Virat, wanting to thrust Sai's responsibility on him. After her outburst at the marriage proposal, we see Sai's first mellowed down response to Virat after Aaba's demise. Her saying "Virat sir..! Nahi kuchh nahi.." was out of combination of two things: (a) the knowledge that Aaba gave her responsibility to Virat (She stayed with Virat just because of 'Aaba's order', Virat had said,"To apani Aabaki baat nahi manogi" and she sat back in the jeep), (b) becoming aware that there is no one except Virat who is ready to become her 'foster Parivaar', marriage or 'no' marriage. Still she was too angry at the time to back down, take 'u-turn' from her accussations thrown at Virat, and ask him to stop, still she kind of did.

2. Sai broke down after this. She could not imagine a life alone without 'Parivaar'. Finances were not an issue looking at the position Kamal sir had as an inspector, but what about 'emotional needs', a support system, having a person who gets sleepless nights if you are in trouble.

She decided to end her lonely life, remembering the person who a moment ago became her only hope of having a 'foster parivaar'. She said, "Virat sir tab tak GC chhodke chale gaye honge, mei is waqt unake bare mei kyun soch rahi hun?" as she slit her wrist.

3. When after reviving from her suicide attempt, she found Virat again by her side, making her sip water when she coughed, showing deep concern and willingness to be by her side ('become her foster parivaar'), supporting her in pursueing her Aaba's dream. Before attempting suicide, she already had lost the drive to pursue it, in absence of Parivaar. She regained the wish to pursue after Virat's supportive words. She wanted him to come to the hospital to discharge her whatever she said on his face. When he did not come Sai said, "Itanhi meri parva thi to discharge karane kyun nahi aaye?".

4.She made her last attempt, after the Aaba's ashthi visarjan, to convince Aaba's friends to become her 'Parivaar' without which she knew she can't live. She almost pleaded to Usha mavashi to become her 'Parivaar', but even she showed her helplessness. When all outright denied the request, she almost knew what she had to do. "Aap log muzhe majboor kar rahe hain ye shadi karaneke liye".

Marriage, they never wanted: Marriage, that to with a 'bachhi' all of 18, was last thing Virat could think of. All he wanted was to care for Sai, hover over her as her guardian-friend and protect her, when she would live in Nagpur hostel. For Sai, who just wanted what Virat wanted to give her, his care and protection, not marriage. She still would have wanted Virat to care for her, protect her, become her first 'to contact person' when needed if she had moved to Nagpur hostel.

For Virat, his decision of marriage was out of the 'connection' that prompted him to deeply care for Sai, protect her, and most importantly Sai, proving that she can't live without a 'Parivaar'. In his dream when he saw Sai, drowning in the water, it indicated Sai's inability to live without a 'Parivaar' which he decided to become. Sai, on the other side knew exactly the same.

Rather at the Virat-Sai meeting, Sai made a fragile attempt to push Aaba's friends to become her 'Parivaar' (they would have to if Virat denied marrying Sai and leaving GC) but at the same time pushing Virat to become her 'Parivaar' completely, nothing in between.

Yes, Sai did put the ball in Virat's court for final decision as it looks like, but she almost knew that she needs it too (and did not resist it fiercely), not the marriage but 'Parivaar' and Virat's care (who she knew was sincere and she had faith on) which she anyways wanted.

Her communication with the DIG is very telling,"Jab muze jaroorat thi, toh Virat sirne muzhe 'Parivaar' diya, rishtey diye.."

I have witnessed the most contended Sai, when it came to Virat-Sai relationship, is when Virat said,"Parivaar ka naam hi zimmedari hota hai" was what Sai wanted to hear all along.

Even if the marriage did happen at the firm 'Yes' of Virat, Sai knew that she needeed it too as a way to have a 'Parivaar' along with Virat's care, rather she wanted it completely, not as a 'deal'.

Impressive analysis, and very well penned Sai's state and mind. Sai has accepted Virat as part of her parivar much before her marriage with him. Love is a strong word for Sai..She loves her dad. Next to him, Virat is the person who comes to mind after her dad and he really stood to it. She got married, because their personalities match in terms of honesty, transparent and caring for loved ones. I am hopeful she will fight through these kitchen politics.

For today's episode, got to say - to err is human and let Virat go. He was not in his ACP avatar today..If you rewatch the episode, it will help you calm down.

Well written . You has said it all there is nothing much to add . I would never agree when people say Sai was forced to marry Virat and Virat forced her into this . Sai is not a girl who can be forced into a marriage. You have very nicely explained about how she put the sole responsibility of rejecting the marriage proposal on Virat .

I was always interested to know did Virat and Sai think about the below points when they are busy laying out the terms and conditions of their marriage.

1.Is it fair to expect Sai to stay in a loveless marriage her whole life . I don’t think separating after 5 hrs was part of their initial plan .

2.When Virat said she is free to walk out of the marriage after her completing her studies did Sai and Virat think about Sai’s remarriage. Will Virat be willing to help Sai find a suitable guy for her .Will it be easy for them to find a groom considering it’s her second marriage.

3. Did they expect loyalty from each other when they are together .Will Virat be open to Sai dating a guy being married to him . I know Sai will never do that but if you think it’s not wrong considering Virat never wanted to be her husband

Wonderful questions...With one decision to Sai he destroyed 4 people's lives - his, Samrat's, Pakhi and Sai.

Thank you . Cant blame Virat alone here Sai did not refuse to marry him . He pretty much messed others life with his vaada

Pakhi was a fool to even think of marriage when she just had a heartbreak . Even more was marrying Samrat thinking she can be close to his brother .

I only feel bad for Samrat .Bali ka Bakra

These are the questions that I have wondered about as well. Yes, Virat married Sai, declaring that it will be a no-strings attached arrangement, but what happens when a new boy enters her life. What happens when the arrangement ends? Did he think that Sai also wished to remain single, just like him, all her life?

Often, doctors meet their life partners while studying in a medical school. It would be better to see these questions addressed in the future track in the form of Virat's insecurities and the fear of losing Sai forever -- it should not be an EMA accusation that would drive Sai to suicide again. (I am hoping they take a detour and show something original and a conflict based on reality).

Hello, MyThoughts,

I love reading your long-character analysis. If Virat agreed to marry Sai because she was Sai (I do not think he married her because of the promise given to her father), she, too, gave in quickly because he was Virat.
