Why couldn’t Anushka or Sonam match up to Deepika?

What's the ironic part?

but even in prime, sonam didn't have growth as an actress as deepika did. anushka doesn't have the screen presence like deepika. if she wasn't virat's wife, I don't think she would have had this stardom

Every year since 2014 was supposed to be Anushka's year but so far she hasn't been able to attain that stardom. And now she has just given up and it's fairly certain that she has lost momentum and will not be coming back at least not as a full time actress.

Sonam was never in the running. She is beautiful but she was never known for her acting chops and even if she does come back to films, it's not going to be some ground breaking cinema and nobody is waiting with bated breath for her to come back.

About "matching up" to Deepika, I don't think Deepika is doing well. Yes, she hasn't taken a break but her performances are lackluster at best. It appears like she is successful because she doesn't have any competition. It's just luck.

Neither Anushka nor Sonam are irrelevant. They didn't match Deepika's success but they became successful in their own ways.

In terms of performance, Anushka Sharma's Band Baaja Baaraat, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, NH10, Pari, PK, Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola are up there with the best of Deepika's performance, if not better. Deepika outshines her in the stardom department, but Anu was always more in the anti-heroine space.

Sonam Kapoor is gorgeousness and she was outstanding in Neerja, but she is not an actress.

Deepika is the Queen of her generation because she has lots of talent and lots of beauty and puts in lots of hard work, in every interview you can see the yearning to learn more about her craft and continue to grow as an artiste. I also see that with Anushka. Sonam, nope - but she does Fashion very very very well.

DP was also in the right place at the right time. Timing is everything in showbiz. Luckily Kareena walked out of Ram-Leela the same week* that Cocktail came out, and her South-Indian connection allowed her to get cast in Chennai Express (beating stiff competition)... and DP's stars were aligned, the rest is history. Anu was so so close to taking that throne, but then Alia happened.

Sonam was never invested in her craft or showed the inclination to be the best version of herself. Some actresses just don't have the acting chops (Katrina, Shraddha) but I believe Sonam had the potential but didn't act on it. She just sort of went with the flow. She's beautiful, and she looked like a dream in her debut, but from there with the exception of Neerja there were no outstanding performances.

Coming to Anushka, she does have acting chops and is pretty much equal to Deepika in acting skills, but she never attained that elusive stardom. She could have been right up there with Deepu, but somehow luck didn't favour her and even when she had massive hits, her co-stars walked away with the accolades like Ranbir in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.

Well, he was the one who F*cked up Sonam's debut because he was so stubborn he Cad to pit his mobile against Shahrukh. This and Saawarya had some editing problems imo.

SLB was a tyran on the sets so much so that even Ranbir doesn't wait to repeat working woth him -hence his turning down Ram Leela afterward.
