This has been happening with newbies since the 80s. Govinda-Neelam played along, but Sanju-Madhuri really fell for each other... Bengali actor Prosenjeet once said in his interview when he did a few BW movies in the 80s, producers asked him to date his costars as it's a thing in BW. Even Ranbir-DP's also started like that. They started it to hype their second film then continued for a few more months after movie release.

I bet you Ananya’s mom thinks this is the best path for her daughter, who she has already imagined her as the next Kareena, pehle Ishaan phir koi nawab!!!!🤢
