Which genre is Bollywood worst at?

I think thrillers and horror in BW are the worst.

Romance and family dramas are good.

Comedies are average.

In terms of thrillers, Knives Out is the best thriller I watched recently and I wondered why Bollywood can't make something like that - so smooth and polished yet so gripping.

The best thriller in BW is Kahaani, but it doesn't come close to Knives Out. Andadhun, Dhrishyam and Badla are also good.

Ugghh...Comedy. 🤢 Cant think of any recent so-called "Comedy" that made me laugh. Most are so over-the-top and unfunny. Its just boring to watch.

I think BW makes decent thrillers. The last ones I watched from this genre were Andhadhun, Article 15 and Badla. All of them had good production quality.

BW sucks at horror as well. (although two recent horror films Stree and Tumbbad were exceptional). But I would say one thing, the vishesh films genre of horrors are kind of my guilty pleasure 😆 Most of the time they also have some nice songs.

Sci fi.. they are so bad that they don't even attempt

For horror, at least we have Tumbbad. IMO it is a masterpiece from India in the psychological horror/fantasy genre, especially with that budget.

I think Bollywood is the worst at Teenage dramas. I can't remember the last one I saw and liked.

I found knives out to be overhyped. After all the reviews i saw and it was ok but some parts where a bummer especially the early spoiler regarding the lead actress.

On topic bollywood sucks everywhere nowadays. But yes horror, young adult and SciFi takes the cake. It was good at comedy but even that is bad nowadays. Such a shame. Jo aata tha ab wo bhi nahi aata he.

As others have said Sci-fi. They are unwatchable. They don't even attempt sci-fi but the fantasy (with science elements) they do is pure crap.

On that note there is a very good sort of fantasy set in space (sci-fi would be a stretch but I guess there definitely are elements/influences), with Vikrant Massey on Netflix. It's called Cargo if I recall correctly. A very unusual and fresh take on reincarnation. It's not your average fare and it does meander at times but still way better than most things coming out of bollywood these days.

Bollywood makes such shitty horror films which is a shame bcz we have such creepy scary folklores in all the states. It can go upto the j horror level if done right bcz such old creepy folklores we have in our country
