So, replacing Chadwick with another character wouldn't be disservice to the actor...but having Shuri continue T'Challa's legacy would be a disservice? yeah, right!
I was talking about disservice to the CHARACTER, not the ACTOR. I don't think a recast would be disservicing the actor either. Replacing Dumbledore wasn't a disservice to Richard Harris.
Also, there can be n number of T'Challas as well, coz there are n universes. MCU is just one fictional universe. They can introduce another T'Challa, in another universe, if they're really dying to write stories for T'Challa's version Black Panther.
There's only one T'Challa whose journey we have seen from Civil War till Endgame. Any other T'Challa from another multiverse or dimension would be another version of him, not him.
Not sure, what's the problem with makers trying to honor Chadwick's memory .....when neither his fans, nor his family, not Black Panther fans, nor his co-actors etc etc etc have any problem with it.
Fans and family are being emotional. Marvel is taking this decision on public demand, because they don't want to make them angry. But from storytelling point of view, it's not a correct decision imo.
Wouldn't be the first time in history also, when a character will be retired/killed off because of actor's sudden death. If they replaced him, they won't even be able to show his flashbacks / his scenes as BP, in later movies in MCU. They are immortalizing this version of T'Challa / Black Panther, within this franchise.
If they want to show flashback scenes, they could show the recasted actor do the same scenes in place of Chadwick.
But off course, they are just 'excuses'.
