I'm curious to know what your first blasphemy was. I've only counted two š Shivika will always be a special ship for me. They have had plenty of poignant scenes and a slow, steady and beautiful progression. But I am currently more high on VaNi too. Haan lekin Annika's tadi and takkar eventually became bas ainvayi and for the sake of their nokjhoks. When it came to important matters, it would die and that would annoy me to no end. I love ShiviKa but God, it would bother me. Also please don't get me started on the styling on the show! It would offer plenty of troll material (pun intended) 𤣠Bani on the other hand looks stunning always and she has always stood her ground. @Bold Exactly. She always gives him tit for tat and doesn't take unnecessary disrespect lying down. Whether from Veer or his family. The only complain I would have is for to have given it back to her Chachi too in the beginning of the show. But oh well. I wouldn't want this trait of Bani to be watered down. Its also a delight to watch Veer actually empowering her and even indulging her. Its one of their strengths. Like someone said VaNi gives these strong, power couple type vibes. There is also a reason why Veer is so loved. He is this ideal husband without being this sweet, chocolate boy kind of character. If you know what I mean.
Haha, the first blasphemy was Veer over Shivaay, the second was Bani over Annika (latter-day Annika for sure, and that's not even including Redux šš¼) and the third was Vani over Shivika. I'm actually perfectly fine with the first one, the second one is pretty balanced, and the third one is because I'm currently high on Vani (and also because Veer being Veer adds a lot to it).
Shivika is for sure a special ship to me too, they had a lovely progression, and some great chemistry and intimacy. They also had the benefit of being on a show that was all about the romance, and was a longer-running one, so none of the other issues we see here (not enough Naagin thrills or whatever) came into play. But yes, that means they also had more than their share of annoyances. The constant separations, but more than that for me, the way Shivaay was so fixated and single-minded for so long re: naam khoon khandaan that it sometimes almost overpowered their romantic scenes, because he'd then turn around and negate that by picking Tia over her or making weird decisions. And I felt that towards the end of the show's run, they turned Annika into a bit of a buddhu...she was an intelligent, street smart woman for most of the run, if not as educated as Shivaay, but then they'd show her as a bit slapstick or dare I say, embarrassing, in order to glorify Shivaay. She'd make mistakes that original Annika never would, just so that Shivaay could come in and tell her off before saving the day.
In the beginning of this show I did wonder if they were going for that same "bechari" vibe with Bani, esp re: her family, but thankfully they snapped out of that quickly. For all the complaints about her being rigid or aggressive, I like that she isn't someone who cries at the drop of a hat and is helpless to make any change in her life. So when she does cry, like in the last couple of eps, it's impactful because she's not normally prone to waterworks as standard.
I love the way Veer indulges her. I'm pretty sure he was always turned on by, and therefore has encouraged, her anger š he loves her passion, however expressed, and he's never tried to change her or control her. They definitely give power couple vibes. Word re: Veer being the ideal husband but not in a sickly way. What I love about him is that he's not uber mahaan or blind to Bani's flaws, and he calls her out when needed, but he's also always got her back, and he never ever (possession aside š”) insults her or lets anyone else insult her either.
@Edit. I didn't notice that actually. It could be a budget issue. Since there are more vfx focused scenes now, they are cutting down on the other things. I understand that production must have their share of issues but I wish they would keep these things consistent. If these things are kept upto mark, viewers do not even notice it. But when that quality of that falls, it does make more of a difference. The kind of things that makes more of an impact in its absence than its presence. Agreed. I wish ITV shows had proper budgets that they could reasonably keep quality high. Most shows starts off super grandiose, and then devolve into having everyone living in the same house to avoid paying for new sets šš
