In that case, we've both committed blasphemy. No regrets though 😆. IB being an long running show had both an advantage and a disadvantage over shows like Naagin and other finite shows. It definitely had the edge of being an out and out romantic show so no burden on it as such. So they had the time to show a good journey of these two individuals coming together but then also went on to ruin the characters after a point and have quite a few senseless tracks come it. Probably because the main plot is now over? The Redux was so weird. At that point I had already stopped watching the show regularly though so kinda helped when Shivika 'died'. In my mind, the original Shivika lived on normally and happily having overcome their main obstacles. Yes, Shivaay's NKK did lead him to make a lot of wrong decisions. But to me that wasn't as bothersome because it was always the central conflict between Shivaay and Annika. I've always felt that Shivaay was more attracted to Annika initially then she was to him. She started feeling it way later. He would constantly pick Tia purposely to try and push Annika away and repress the feelings in his heart. Plus, I think that track culminated pretty well. Shivaay did end up redeeming himself in that particular department. One highlight of this and also my favourite scene was when Shivaay on finding out how Annika used to stay outside the mandir with her Chutki absolutely starving... goes on to make her food and personally feeds her himself. This was an absolutely beautiful scene that really stood out to me. So I think that track resolved itself. It was the other tracks and like you said, many of the other separations that got annoying. AND YES. The way Annika was pulled down to glorify Shivaay at times made me mad too. One thing that I will never forgive Shivaay for looking down on Annika's job. That one time when he literally belittled Annika's incapability of doing her job right while Annika overhears it left me totally shocked and angry. I was also pissed at Annika for not saying anything or standing up for herself and continuing the job even then. This woman had faced the world and her traumas alone while fending for both herself and her brother and not becoming bitter in the process. He had the gall to say something like that. Sorry I am just reliving that and getting mad again lol. Maybe Gul would do really well if she kept her shows strictly finite too but not shorten it overly either.

On the flip side, Bani would have never have anyone degrade her. Heck, Veer would never imagine saying something like that to her, let alone have anyone say that about her either. Even in her absence. He literally has her back at all times. Her rock solid. We talk about unconditional love. That is exactly the kind of love that Veer has for Bani. He had no conditions in his love. Nothing, absolutely nothing, can shake his love for her. He embraces and accepts her with all her traits and shortcomings. He does not hesitate to call her out for her faults but yes, does not try to change or control her. That also does not lessen his love for her. Being from his enemy clan, being AdiNaagin , being against his mother, his family.. being the one who killed him in his past life. Nothing shook him. In fact, he loves Bani's fierceness and has even mentioned about it to her. When he found out about her being an AdiNaagin, he only focused on how she must be powerful too then. He takes everything almost like one more reason to love her with a passion.

Bani's love for him is different than his for her. Equally deep probably but different. Her feeling for him bloomed as she saw more side of him and understood him. Many on the forum would get annoyed with her before. I wouldn't though. Keeping apart her bewakoofi at times (and some thing later on ex. Jay), I still had a soft corner for her. She had her valid reasons before and then there was also her own personality. Maybe because I can relate to her denseness when it comes to matter of the heart and being stubborn in expressing her feelings😆. She's clearly way past these though. Like certain discussions on the topic, its the typical ITV ML and FL but the dynamic is reversed for VaNi. And only Veer wasn't always crying for the love and being a bechara. I would totally watch a love story focused on VaNi only without the pressure of the "Naagin" thrill or the revenge bit. There's so much to say about these two..

Btw, Sharma ji has disappeared. Beti ki shaadi mein bhi nahi aaye. Another budget cut? 😆 Should send Chachi and Mehek-Dehek out too. Warna consistency toh rakhte.

Yeah...agreed. I binge-watched IB a couple of years after it ended (thank God...daily would have killed me 😔)...and I remember my friends who'd watched it live talking about Redux being rubbish, so initially I didn't even bother watching it. The second re-watch I did, I watched Redux out of curiosity. That "season" butchered every character I loved, including Rudy and the OBros, let alone Shivika. I think I laughed/smiled like once in the entirety of that track. It was bad. I just ignore it now. It's non-canon as far as I'm concerned. Thank God there's no chance of that happening here...

Yes, I guess it was a central track which did resolve itself, but man, it annoyed me so much. I think it also annoyed me how long it went on...even after Shivaay had accepted Annika as his wife, in an episode of DBO he said something like "I can't picture her as the mother of my children", and I was like, 'buddy, you're still stuck on this?! After everything you've been through?' 😡 that pissed me off. I def agree that he was more attracted first; in the beginning she didn't really see him that way at all, esp because she knew he was engaged to Tia.

That scene was a definite highlight - he treated her so tenderly, and she didn't understand where it was coming from. She never wallowed in her past miseries or hard childhood, which I loved about her.

It was the other tracks and like you said, many of the other separations that got annoying. AND YES. The way Annika was pulled down to glorify Shivaay at times made me mad too. Yes, he was very stuck up about that, and there were several points in the early stages where he'd demean her - in front of or behind her back, where she'd hear it - and it was tough to understand why I should root for this guy who is apparently such an ideal brother and grandson etc., but doesn't have even the basic respect for a woman who isn't of his "class". It's one thing to be snobbish, but he was downright insulting.

This makes it sound like I hated Shivaay, and I don't...he had a lot of excellent qualities as well, and his love for Annika was real and pure. It just took me a while to warm to him, and even now I have to skip certain scenes/eps otherwise I'm once again angry at the way he behaves.

From what I've heard of Gul's other shows, many of the MLs have this kind of toxicity somewhere in their characters. It's not that Ekta's MLs are some wonderful alien species who are all perfect...she's had plenty of those kinds of MLs too. ITV has often confused "alpha, strong male" with toxic masculinity. Veer is a refreshing change from all of that, across the board I feel.

ALL OF THIS I love this about Veer. You often find unconditional love in parental relationships, but rarely in romantic relationships - there's always a line or a point at which that love breaks. Not here. Veer will call Bani out, but he will always, always be on her side. Everything she's done or said, through it all, he's had her back. Even when he thought she'd killed his brother, he didn't let that on to anyone else, he didn't let them hurt her or even disrespect her. Even when he expected nothing but hatred from her, he embraced her in every way she let him.

I'm continually surprised that a show like this, with all the inherent flaws and logic fails, has somehow managed to etch a character like Veer and keep him pretty much consistent. Possession notwithstanding, Veer has been pretty solid throughout, and his love, obsession, intensity and passion for Bani has never changed. It's like he's her biggest cheerleader...whatever she does, he's there waving pom-poms and celebrating like a proud husband 😆

I am exactly the same as you re: Bani. I thought I was the only one here who didn't hate (intensely dislike) her. When I lurked around I felt like I was the only one who felt like I could understand her, even during moments that frustrated me. I'm also very closed off and stubborn when it comes to expressing feelings 😆 and I genuinely believe actions speak louder than words, so not only did I "get" her, but I also felt I saw her melt towards Veer in ways that she wasn't then verbalising. So I had more patience. Plus, I've said this before, if I tolerated and in the end still love Shivaay for his annoying tendencies, then I can give Bani the same benefit of the doubt. I always feel as an audience we're quick to accept or excuse the negative behaviours of male leads, because we're used to seeing that, and because "they're hot"...and we always judge women harsher for the same actions. It's not just this show, or even ITV, I've witnessed this same phenomenon across shows, genres and languages. So I always feel the urge to redress the balance a bit towards the flawed women as well 😆

Word on your last bit though. I want to see SharBhi together again, but more, I want to see VANI together but with better writing and more time to explore their romantic angle, and less of the Naagin thrills. If they could just transport these two characters and their quirks (the black clothes, the 'sweetheart' etc. all of it) onto a web platform and just have an intense romance, I'd be all for it.

I'm very confused as to how Meera is getting married without her father present 😕 Mahek-Dahek mentioned him a couple of eps ago, so they do remember him...actor must be busy otherwise what a weird thing to ignore 😆

It's like when Jai's entire family disappeared overnight 😆 randomly, I'm remembering the scene from the ep where Jai "dies", and his sister and bro are talking to each other being like "that girl (Bani) bro was meant to marry...she hasn't even called us once since he disappeared!" 🤣smiley37smiley37 waah Bani...five mins ago you were all "daadi ji I'll make you the best tea in the world" and here you've forgotten they exist already. 🤣

I do agree that Veer was pretty shifty the entire time, but that was one scene where he definitely felt like Veer to me. Imo it kinda drew a parallel with Shakura but also showed how the two are different. Shakura continued ogling at Bani whereas Veer, despite being turned on and to that one woman he has always craved for, tore his gaze away. Was a pretty subtle way of differentiating the two and also how far he has came since his initial days. The entire episode was pretty conflicting with regards to Veer's behaviour too though. 🤔

I just got a massive Shakura flashback and I guess I didn't seem to get over that. It just bought me to a flashback, maybe it was just me?

Well it happens. I'm peculiar max pro. 😆
