While uploading the scenes, it still pinches me that we have such low quality print for so many of them.....imagine agar 720p waale epis hote....sigh.

Haan na yaar 720 chodo jo end ke thoda HQ wale hain woh quality hi kar dein upload even though usme jagah jagah faces pixelate ho jaate hain that was how it was when star switched over but seriously the details I saw in last 10 episodes I couldn't notice in the entire show like the curtains actually had this frilly embroided things around them the detail in each piece of set . Warna toh kesar ka room looked like a dabba those red frills looked so ehh to me and I was like Vasant ka room is nicer😆

All the outfits had such intricate embroidery and all jiomujhe end main dikhe warna kuch nahi pata chalta tha

all these things matter

LOL yes, it's sort of a twist on the Beauty and the Beast story, except the "Beauty" in question here is herself viewed as a beast because she is made to look ugly to hide her beauty.

As Fary pointed out, the story essentially charts this journey through perceptions of beauty - both internal and external and how those play a part in DN's story.....the baggage that both of them come with for different reasons. It sounds fantastical on the surface that anyone can build a story around a girl applying soot on her face but this show managed it. The makers actually force you to confront perceptions of physical appearance and look beyond it....cuz they really go out of their way to make the FL look "ugly" vis a vis the black makeup and prosthetics they pile on her....but the win for the story IMO is in the way they make you adore her character for her qualities and along with the ML, the audience also learns to look beyond appearances. And then ofcourse there is the ML Dutta.....his presence looms large over the story once he enters....the way his friendship develops with Nakku, their convos, the falling in love....Mishal Raheja was fabulous in this role.

The concept seems hatke with inner and outer beauty as the main theme of the show. Makes it a good watch when you have a journey etched out beautifully with actors who can act! I loved Mishal Raheja in Love story :)

Re: Bunty.....lol yes, he plays a smartass in this too constantly cracking wisecracks😆.

Basically the story begins in a very poor basti and for once, the depiction of the daily struggles of a poor family dealing with misfortunes isn't shown in a trite manner but a hard-hitting manner.....the ensemble cast was superb.....a lot of veteran actors including the lady playing Nakku's mom Baabi, her drunk stepdad, and then later on famous cameos like Mohan Kapoor too.

Ok, so this is one of those under-rated scenes in the midst of all the other epic ones happening around that time.....I actually didn't remember this scene until I came across it in this rewatch.....lol.

I love the way Kesar finds a way to say "Sorry" without even looking at Gulaal but it's so obvious that his full apology is directed at her only😆...."Sorry us har cheez ke liye jo maine ki ....aur dusron ko pasand nahin aayi"😆......yeh "dusre" kaun hain, Kesar ji?😆.....seedhe seedhe bolo na Gulaal ko pasand nahin aayi isliye sorry😆

Oh btw the other thing that I kept looking for in gulaal was MB ki shawls matlab baaki logon ko itne kapde nahi mile poore show main jitne MB ko rang birange and extremely precious shawls saara budget unke shawls main hi jaata tha shayad. They were really beautiful and matlab roz nayi shawls pehnte thay MB 😆 meanwhile gulaal had buy 1 get one free wale same to same outfits in each color same with talli😆 and PB bechari toh literally had 2 suits ek pink or ek green woh bhi sale offer wale😆

😆 ofcourse Gulaal ji aur kaun dusra. Isi liye itna bhi sorry bola reva ko warna he wasn't actually sorry for beating that loser and why should he be he deserved it.

Oh I actually loved the I lie scene too the way he gifts it to talli and she refuses ofcourse he knows isko nahi kahni the twisted way to get it to gulaal and the way he watched her eat it secretly and gulaal ki happiness at that aww🤗 ke finally he reached out to her albeit indirectly

Haan the story is solidly charted with great acting. Along with the beauty wala concept, the USP also lies in the way they build DN ka relationship through all the phases.....from meeting in such dire life and death circumstances, to him becoming her "Saab", then him treating her like an equal as his friend, then trials of trust and ultimately love. There is also an exploration of faith....Nakku is not the typical FL who's faith is shown like a prop to show "sanskaar".....her faith in her Bappa is bone deep and built as a part of her identity....so the way it is depicted has a serenity to it....she has both a naivete and a quiet strength about her which is what intrigues Dutta too as he grows attached to her.

Uski har cheez Gulaal ke liye hi hoti hai, directly yaa indirectly😆 Woh Gulaal ko hi sorry bolne aya tha, after realizing how badly he had injured the other guy, gussa shant hone ke baad hospital jaake uske ilaaj ka bill bhi pay karke aaya.

Gulaal gets very scared of his gussa and tells him to control it or one day it will bring a lot of problem. After Dushyant reveal he remembers this and breaks down, it was heart wrenching to watch Kesar that time, he blamed himself and his anger for being the cause of Gulaals troubles🥺

I wish they had gone for traditional cotton bandhanis, kachhi embroidered ghaghra cholis for Gulaal too, instead of those gaudy cholis😆 I liked her dressing in the beginning when she was with Vasant , then they changed it . It was good in the last phase, she had her hair open and those gaudy necklaces gave way to smaller ones😆

Baaki Talli and Gulaal getting same outfits in different colors is so true🤣 Motabha ki to shawl mein bhi embroidery hote the tarah tarah ke!

Oye and now your DN and GK mix has become even more special caz I am done watching the show and have a context for the scenes. It does makes a huge difference when you have seen a show.vs just watching befire watching the scene's or couple. I mean the other day I was in pre leap phase only Haha props to you for finding the playful scenes and merging them so well 😄
