I don't consider Chaiya Chaiya an item number. As per recent item songs, there is teasing, foul language, not treating women nicely and stupid rhyming stanzas without any meaning.

Chaiya Chaiya has none of the above. It is beautiful, poetic and has soulful music :)

Chaiya Chaiya is class apart, there is no comparison at all. In fact in all of ARR hindi music, I find his Dil Se album the best. All of Dil Se songs are just amazing.

Can Chaiyya Chaiyya be considered an item song??🤔... Or, was it considered an item song when it came out??

Anyway, don't think any Chaiyya Chaiyya is a timeless, iconic and in a class of its own. Both in terms of picturization and music.

Kajra re is a very well done item number, but doesn't come close to Chaiyya Chaiyya's legacy.

Anything is better than father in law and daughter in law openly flirting with each other on screen🤢 but for aish everything is saat khoon maaf in this forum.

Chhaiyya chhaiyya..its on a sufiyana level i feel.. while i like kajra re, its more of a qawwali/jugalbandi flirty song.. so yeah Chhaiyya Chaiyya any day

Kajara Re is one of the finest Bollywood songs . It has fantastic melody.

Alisha Chinai, Javed Ali and Mahadevan rock Kajara re, especially Alisha Chinai. Her opening rendition itself is exceptional . Composers, singers, Lyricist, Actors all are in their element in Kajara re. It is an almost perfect song.

To top it off Aishwairya Rai and two Bachchans were really good. This song belonged to Aishwairya Rai. Nobody would have done this better.

Excellent.

It is an almost 8 minute song and there is not one dull moment in the whole song.

Chaiyya is an ordinary song in comparison to Kajara re. There is nothing much in the song except maybe SRK. Even Sukhwinder's rendition could not make it better than what it was. Rehman's craze at that time is what made the song popular. If it was released today it would have been shown the dustbin.

In comparison to Kajara Re, Chaiya Chaiya is a rubbish song.

In 5 years Kajara Re has 1.4 crore views, Chaiya Chaiya in 10 years has 1.2 crore views.

Good you feel that way but not everyone does. In fact, as the replies suggest, some people might prefer Kajra Re. Both are aesthetic in their own right, and in no way is the comparison outlandish. For e.g. -- like comparing Chaiya Chaiya with the Dus Bahane remake from Baaghi 3 might be outlandish, but this is definitely not.
