Like father, like son? An illusion broken

Sons pride in their dads, especially when they share a buddy bond and not the one that is seen with a lens of another generation. For Virat, the only person he called when he was in a dilemma was his hero -- his father, Ninad Chavan. In his subconscious mind, which is also where his dreams and nightmares are made, it is his father's words that show him the path. What happens when the illusion breaks?

Will this heartbreak of not being able to identify with a parent you have doted on, heal?

Often, it doesn't. Much as we would like to see the backstory of Ninad and Ashwini, I feel the two managed to keep some kind of pretence about their personal equation for the sake of their son, which has completely come undone after he arrived home with a "unworthy" marriage. It also shook Virat up to see the way his father insulted his mother in front of the family and his new wife -- this side of Ninad must have been never seen before. Along with, of course, the unwillingness to acknowledge Virat's reasons to marry Sai.

In today's episode Virat telling Sai, "Ab tum chup chaap Kuch Nahi sahogi... Na Kisi ke taane na Kisi ki kadvi baatein. Agar koi tumhari beizzati kare toh use jawab de dena."

Vs

Ninad telling Ashwini: "Tumhari zabaan bohat lambi ho gayi hai... Tujhe aaj tak ye baat samajh Nahi aayi"

It is an indication of the father son relationship coming undone in the days to come. I hope I am wrong because it would shatter Virat, who looks up to his father as a guide.

Does a man, who has no respect for his wife, actually have the 'love' for the son she has given him? Often, the answer is no.

Now that Virat has displeased his family, he's going to see everyone's true colours. He was living in this bubble about his family members because he has never given them any reason to be angry with him, until today. However, I am confused about the Virat-Ninad-Ashwini equation. I find it hard to believe that Virat is unaware about the problems in his parents' marriage or that his father doesn't respect his mother. That part is confusing. But now that Virat has finally seen or should I say, chosen not to look the other way, about how Ninad actually is, he doesn't want another Ashwini in Sai.

He finally realises the pain his mother must be going through and doesn't want Sai to suffer the same.

Virat has already suffered so much in a such a short span, this broken illusion of Ninad is going to pierce him more. There's nothing more hurtful than realising that your hero has feet of clay.

@red: that is more like it. I think Ashwini's honest welcome to Sai, where she said I suffered in silence because 'mera Saath dene wala koi Nahi tha' hit him hard. Moreover, he must has been brought up being taught to remain silent. And bacche badon ke beech me Nahi Bolte. But now, Sai's insult will be his personal insult because the first duty for a man is to protect the honour of his wife. Wo Nahi Kar Sakta toh kahe Ka police wala.

@green: yes and the only place of comfort/distraction will be Sai with her understanding and her antics as well. I want both of them to have a heart to heart talk about dads, given that Sai has all the peg to start the conversation about Aaba

Well... I actually feel that Virat didn't probably have an idea that things would be this bad between his parents because,

a) Ashwini - Ninad must have definitely put up a façade in front of Virat,

b) Ashwini never complained,

c) whenever Ninad belittled Ashwini, it could have been normalised for him, saying "Jaane de beta, Pati-Patni ke beech yeh sab hota hai..."

But when he got Sai home and saw the kind of reaction his gave, the very picture he had painted of his perfect, dutiful father, just broke. Also, his conversation with Sunny says a lot about what he thought his father would be. He didn't have that "umeed" from anyone else in the family to understand him, but only his Baba. My heart really went out for him in that scene.

Even in today's episode, when Sai went to touch Bhavani and Ninad's feet and they refused, more than Sai herself, Virat was affected. So, now, I think he'll slowly start realising how faulty and hypocritical his family is, deem it right to protect not just Sai, but also Ashwini.

Hey I think only Ashwini does truly love Virat in that house. For Ninad & Bhavani he is only there to boost their ego of having a male successor. Sometimes I wonder what kind of bond Ninad has towards Devi who's actually Bhavani's daughter?? May be not a prominent one like Bhavani-Virat because she's mentally unstable and moreover a girl.

I think Virat has an idea about Ninad-Ashwini personal equation but he could completely understand it only after he entered the house with his wife.
