No. As I said, I believe he is trying to convince her that her burns aren't something that will push him away. He wants her now as much he wanted her before. She too is very much in love with him and wants it as much as him (as per the story goes). It doesn't seem as if he is forcing himself.

In general, I don't think anyone should force intimacy on anyone saying "mujhe haqq hai"

He could have said I love you as much as I loved you before and want you as much or even more.

No this is not marital rape as the wife though not used words but she wants it as well .

But the truth is many of the woman in India is subject to marital rape in first night especially in arranged marriage as even in this era men thinks that it is inevitable to have sex in first night whereas most of the woman let it happen because they are expected to do so. If she denies the consequences won't be pleasant in many cases.

I watched a Malayalam film which dealt with this topic beautifully. Kettiyolaanu ente malakha (My wife is an angel). The hero was so nervous about consummating his marriage that he ended up raping his newly wed wife and she had to be hospitalized. He had skipped the pre-marriage counseling with the obligatory sex-education class because he was embarrassed to be taught by nuns. He gets entirely the wrong idea from his friends about being a 'man'. Of course his family, neighbours and everybody else condemned him but I still think he got off easily. The lady doctor wanted to charge him with rape but his wife just wanted to forget the trauma and divorce him. This might make a perfect Ayushmann Khurrana film though. He loves educating the public on taboo topics.

I agree, the film beautifully represented the issue and after its release there were many discussion about sexual education. Akaash vani is another movie which depicted marital rape . These days middle and upper class women have opportunity to get education so most of them are not clueless about physical relationship, but that cannot assure healthy physical relationship. In India , many of them believes that it is the duty of wife to satisfy husband whenever he feels so and it is a unwritten rule that marriage should be consummated in first night. The experience of woman who is expected to have sex with a man who she have met probably once or twice won't be pleasant.

In one of casual discussion with my aunt she disclosed that her husband slapped her in first night as she was not clean enough to have physical relationship in first night. She was barely 18 and those days sexual education especially for women was through experience after marriage or through the experience of siblings or friends . In her case she was the youngest in the family without any social life and married to a man who is 12 years elder to her . Initially the physical relationship was an horrible experience as she was clueless about it. The irony is her husband is a nice man otherwise.

Thank you everyone for commenting and making me understood that this is not marital rape.

Sanskari Sooraj Barjatya can never do that. What was I thinking?
