The similarities between Yash and Rahul

I think there should be one mega thread for K3G because there are so many topics you can get out of that movie. Well, anyways I think there were a lot of similarities between Yash and Rahul in the way they treated their wife. Both of them looked down on their wife albeit in a different. Both of them were kind of toxic as well and trying to dominate women in their house too. Rahul was quite rude to Rohan when he met him for the first time in London.

When did Rahul dominate Anjali?

He didn't support Anjali's regressive mentality of not liking British culture, which actually proved Yash right, that Anjali is not the right girl for him because of her background.

Rahul didn't know Rohan was his brother, so he being rude to him doesn't mean anything.

They really couldve talked to thru Rahul secretly marrying Anjali without a ten year gap and solved everything 😆

He was very bossy. I would advise you to rewatch the movie. He was moral policing Pooja while at the same time he looked down on his own wife and the whole baggage she brought with her to his home after marriage. Especially in the scene where they are trying to convince him to let Rohan live in the house, he is like I don't want Rohan to set his eyes on Pooja. Why? are you her dad or what? She is a grown adult and he also said that I am the boss of the house and yahan sirf meri chalegi akin to Yash Raichand who was a bit more serious in his commanding behaviour.

You're really nitpicking things you know that? Pooja was asking Rahul to let Rohan, who is a stranger to him at that point to stay in their house. Who would allow a stranger guy to stay in their house? Especially when there are women in the house?

Rahul was acting like any normal person. He had problem with Pooja wearing short clothes, that was his old school mentality, but he wasn't a dictator to stop her or any woman in the house. They were all free to do whatever they want to do.

He wasn't Pooja's father, but he was his brother-in-law, so a brother like figure, and you know that Indian brothers are protective.

Him saying he's the boss doesn't mean he was really the boss or dictator like Yash.

I would also add that he didn't look down on his wife or her side of the family, but was justifiably embarrassed because of some of her acts.

Um.. more like Rahul seemed to be the only intelligent person in that house. Anjali (or maybe the way Kajol played her) was so frikkin annoying. She just kept complaining about London without even appreciating the fact that this country gave them a life. It's not like she was a catch. Rahul is a complete moron to choose Anjali over Naina.

And Poo, as entertaining as she was - smarts wasn't really her strength. Rahul was more of a father to her - if I brought in a random dude to my house, my dad would also not welcome that.

Whether he was her dad or not is not the point. Would any normal person allow random dude (especially if he looked a bit edgy like Rohan did what with him behaving shifty around Rahul but that’s not even the point😆) to live in their house especially when they have 2 women in the house?

A lot of Asian families do that in the UK. They let in tenants in their house especially the international students from India, Pakistan etc

uhh what? He wasn't moral policing her. He wasn't judging her morals, he had a problem with her clothes. Pooja lost her dad at a very young age and at that time Rahul did become her father like figure. A father worrying about how revealing your clothes are is not moral policing. That's just how dads are. It's not even just our conservative, helicopter Indian dads but all around the world parents look out for these things. And letting a random man stay in your house when you have a grown daughter is like every Indian parent's nightmare.

He was nothing like Yash. He seemed frustrated for sure and tried to fight but nothing in the house actually ran the way he said. In every instance it was actually the women who got their way. Unlike Yash who would silence any word against him.

A lot of first gen immigrants from Asian countries are like that in the West. They would keep on bloating about their home country but the truth is that they would never want to move back to their home country because the living standard in the West is much higher and better than Asian countries. They just pretend to love their home country so that people back home don't feel that they are traitors, opportunists etc. This is the reason why I find nationalism and patriotism in expats so annoying, like if you love your country so much why don't you come back.
