Will this decade finally belong to Hrithik?

In other words, will he finally, finally claim the top spot as his own?

The Khans and Akshay Kumar craze is already dying down. No matter what anyone says, they are in their 50's and I don't wanna be ageist or anything but their time of playing the lover boy and masala hero is coming to an end. Already, their movies are no longer HGOTY for the last 2 years. Audience, especially those born after 2000, are not enamored by them any more.

If Hrithik is smart enough to play his cards right, he has every chance of becoming numero uno. Yes, 20 years have passed and even he is not in his prime any more, but he legit has these movies lined up which are very promising be it the latest franchise of Krrish, the next part of War and so on.

The only obstacle I think in Hrithik's path is Hrithik himself. He just doesn't take the number game seriously enough and limits himself to one movie in 2 years, which might adversely impact the craze or aura around him. Out of sight is out of mind for a majority of the audience.

Salman and Akshay are doing trashy movies nowadays, and Hrithik is more careful about content/quality than these two.

So do you think he will do a hostile takeover and disrupt the Khan monopoly this decade at least? Or will it be someone else like Ayushmann or Ranbir?

Completely agree with you, especially about him being his biggest obstacle.

He's not exactly an ambitious person, isn't a sucker for limelight (which I like about him, but that isn't exactly a good thing for his career) and it beats me why his films take so much time to be made. As in I personally dread that Krrish 4 is his next because even if the movie gets made in less than a year, they'll most probably dedicate another whole year for its VFX 😭 And it's unlikely that he does another film in between.

All his fans can hope is that his 'instincts' (😡) push him to sign more movies.

But honestly, if he gets to it, nothing can stop him from ruling this decade. He has mass appeal, he has talent and he has his loyal audience.

Hrithik thinks along these lines so the answer is no.

No . He has to do more movies for that . Also the days of superstars is gone , the content would be bigger than the actors from now on

Nope. He doesn’t want it. Not enough anyway. And that’s perfectly okay.

But it sucks for some of his fans who will eternally remain alternatively hopeful and frustrated - but he will continue to do exactly what he has always done.

Superstars do matter. You have these 13/14 year olds absolutely worship Insta influencers or YouTubers these days. It's just shifted to social media.

Today, what matters more is the package over individuals. Bolly folks can't moan about masala films crushing their content-driven films in the age of Netflix and Amazon Prime. The mediocre content they dish out on these streaming services speaks in spades.

While I agree that HR is the last superstar, and that culture is waning, it's also the inability of actors since then to develop a mass following due to their own inadequacies.

Ranbir, who was touted to be the next star, acts like a fanboy when he meets any B-grade Hollywood personality. Ranveer doesn't have a larger than life personality, nor the script sense of an Aamir. Varun sounds like a chai-wala everytime he opens his mouth, no offense.

When it comes to mass following, it usually happens when people admire their personality, philosophy, charisma, or stature. Sadly, talent comes last. That's why you have social media influencers succeeding so much these days.

Look at the actresses. Today, most are like Kareena Didi, my besto-besto Didi. When was the last time a Katrina, a Preity, a Rani, or an Aishwarya spoke in that manner.

To become a superstar, you need to standout. Nobody since HR has. A Taare Zameen Par wouldn't be an ATBB today no matter how amazing it was. It's not about content. It's about entertainment even today. Superstardom is a product of love and admiration. Salman is absolutely loved, which is why he's at the top. I don't think the masses love Ranbir or Ranveer in the same way.
