Glad someone pointed this out. Ofc we are not watching it to learn the history , still these major blunders projects the makers as highly casual and lazy not to do even basic research. 🤢 Arey bhai , itni sahi trp h tumhare serial ki, ek history professor ( heck, even a school teacher would do fine ) ko hi part time hire kar lo.

I remember in one of the FBs during HM track,Ani was taking names of Bhagat Singh and Azad🤪 I was like really they were 8 or 9 in 1918.

Makers, please be very clear about the timeline your are showing.

Absolutely agree with all the points made about historical inaccuracies.

Another major plot they are missing in the presence of Brahmo Samaj in WB- they did a crazy amount for work for not only women empowerment but complete societal development and they haven't even been mentioned? Like many people pointed out- Vidyasagar, Raja Ram Mohan Roy, stories by Bankim Chandra were so empowering, Tagore, mentioning Dwarakanath Ganguly. Literally talking about people who have ACTUALLY made a difference!

Its sad to see zero amount of research being done- such awful and major goof ups are such a turn off.

And being a Bengali- I dont think they have incorporated the Bengali culture properly? Idk if the others agree. Like I remember Bondita making an 'Olpona' where its actually 'Aalpona'- they must be having atleast some bengalis on set right who would help them with basic diction. Then they talked about diwali and choti diwali- we dont celebrate diwali and choti diwali as such, we celebrate Kali puja.

There are too many flaws and they are trying to make it a supremely idealistic and overdramatic show that's ruining the essence.

Just imagine- the initial promos were like a breath of fresh air and then what happened- Literally now she has ACTUALLY started studying. With all the tracks in between- I, unfortunately, feel that the writers and directors have pretty much ruined it. Its sad to see this.

I wish the team (and even the adult actors) put a bit more effort in understanding the culture.

Yes female schools were there in Bengal but mostly white girls attended. Indian parents didn't send their daughters to school and those who attended faced a lot of discrimination which used to be indirectly supported by the schools as they wanted more and more students to accept Christianity and dress western in lieu of scholarships and good treatment.

Boys could do it easily for convenience if they were not super patriotic but not girls.

@NiharikaMishra

Yup you're right but to some extent! The thing is that in Bengal, during the late 1800s there were quite a few schools for girls. Bethune School was one of the most prominent ones- these were mostly attended by the Indian Brahmo girls and not Hindu ones (but that was a trend that was changing during the 1900s).

By that time, there were multiple women who had graduated and established themselves in well to do positions.

These women were an inspiration to many of the young girls both in Hindu and Brahmo families, leading to them enrolling in primary school. I know there was a time in the late 1800s where many young girls and women (either in WB or whole of India, not sure about that part) got admission in primary schools after getting inspired by the women who had graduated.

In Bengal, we had many females who were extremely well-educated and had begun schools of their own by the time that is being shown in this show!

And this brings me back to the same point that the makers haven't researched much and thats really sad when you're trying to pull off a historically significant show!

Aniruddh is well-educated, so he definitely should have known about these women because they were all around the media at that time - both praised and criticized.

But this was a glorious period in Bengal and unfortunately the show hasn't done justice to it!

I was completely against with interference of historical figure into a fictional storyline. I knew it could result in this kind of goof up.

Absolutely agree!

And it annoys me to see them screw up basic historical timelines and cultures. This was such an important time for WB- and then they low-key ruined it. This is not at all a good enough representation of Bengali culture. I am sooo sad- i had high expectations
