People often say It is regressive. But accepting your partner beyond physical beauty in 2006 is not a regressive concept rather I would say outdated treatment. But it strike a cord with the audience specially Tier 2-3 cities .

It was 20 minutes of straight cringe at the beginning then 20 minutes of even more cringe at the end so that's enough cringe for me to declare that it was a cringe movie 😆

I actually think the reason it is still popular because it is so cringe. 😆 Some people see it as a meme, some see it as a guilty pleasure. Rich handsome guy falls in love with ultra sanskari super beautiful girl while going through the process of arrange marriage. Probably used to be (maybe still is) a dream of many Indian guys and girls. Throw some tokenism of love beyond physical beauty in the form of burnt body (but still spotless and shining beautiful face coz audience cannot handle burnt face 😆), you have the movie of masses.
