Was hers the most celebrated debut?

Deepika as Shantipriya...was it the most celebrated debut among film actresses? Can you think of anyone else who generated this much positive buzz during a release?

She definitely had one of the best debuts out there. Looked like a total dream in the movie but i feel she didn't grow as an actress rather she grew as a star with every movie. The last deepika movie i watched was padamavat and man was she a turn off. Looked beautiful, no doubt, but just that.

It was definitely one of the most high profile debuts but the next 4-5 years were disappointing. Cocktail, YJHD, Chennai Express and Ram Leel were like a renaissance.

Alia Bhatt also had a celebrated debut and she immediately followed up with good/hit films and didn't have a lull period the way Deepika did.

Asin and Sonakshi had a great debut too.

Yes!👍🏼 Considering her character Shanti Priya was a superstar in-the-film-itself, Deepika's debut became even more special. Almost like Shanti Priya, a fictional character, came to life with the film. (ironic though considering her character is tragically killed😆in the film)

Also helped that OSO was a celebration of the BW industry.
And considering the kind of success Deepika saw in her later career, her debut could be called the most ambitious & dream-debuts ever.

I think Alia debut overshadowed Deepika's. A part of Deepika's debut's succes had to do with the fact that it was a competition with Sawariya. But Alia's SOTY and the way she was hyped for losing weight just for a role and then her blunder in KWK is not matched by anyone in 2010's.

But Fatima and Sanya too hot a good kickstart with Dangal and even Zaira Wasim. Fatima and Zaira were applauded for pulling off a movie that is one of its kind.

Being in a shahrukh Khan Movie and that too the character being a Movie Star the wave the impact and REACH including overseas was massive forget her acting she looked beautiful and that was enough to have people talking about her. Completely fresh face.

None of all the actresses manage that. Anushka had the chance but RNBJ wasn’t nothing like OSO. OSO was really a dream debut.

Yeah Deepika was lucky to get such a big break. She was so bad in emoting nd dialogues..should be indebted to Farah nd SRK all her life..her subsequent films were horrific
