No. Uncle marrying niece is not a thing in Kerala among any religious community.

Cousin marriage happens in Hindu and Muslim communities.

Marrying cousin is chi because consangunity breeds diseases. Cousin marriage happened in the old days to keep property in the family. Doesn’t make it right.

I have seen so many such marriages with healthy kids. I have seen total strangers marrying but then having kids with genetic disorders.

Anecdote is not data. There is enough research out there to prove beyond doubt cousin marriage causes diseases to perpetuate.

It's not prevalent any more but first cousin marriage is also legal in about 1/2 U.S. states, Canada, Mexico, most of Europe, South America, Australia, Russia, part of Africa etc

It is far more likely to happen when there have been generations of intermarriage. Hence common genetic weaknesses in communities with a culture of intermarriage - be it an isolated village or the Royal families of Europe.
