BUT I find it very strange how this girl is suddenly posting all these sad stories about her self on social media (from depression to parents divorce and now this)...

Just saying, a top film star's daughter getting raped is hardly the same thing as any middle class or working class girl getting raped... the upper class don't have to fear police ignoring them, or culprits getting away through corruption, like any ordinary family in India would...

The only fear an elite upper class family would have that would prevent them reporting the abuse of their teenage daughter is "badnaami" which this particular girl and family are clearly not concerned about if they are now posting on her public Instagram account that she is a rape victim 😕

Hate to say it but this looks like peak attention seeking to me... the exact type of nonsense that makes it harder of real victims to handle things the right way (reporting to police)...

She didn't use the word "rape".

Sexual abuse can mean a lot of things, someone may get touched once. For eg - when I was 10, the sleeves of my tops were short, I was with my bro at a shop who was 4 years old. The shopkeeper, chit chatting touched my arm with his hands.. (he was feeling my entire arm). It took me a min to realise what he was doing. Another incident when someone put their hands inside my clothes in a crowded place and touched my breasts as a kid. Also, sometimes neighbourhood teenage boys pretending to play also touch inappropriately. Has happened with me sometimes & I remember it.

Though it was horrible, it did not make me depressed or PTSD. Such incidents are common in India & I find it hard to believe that no Indian girl has experienced something like this.

Also, I feel, if the victim is more comfortable in not filing a complaint they shouldn't be judged for that. Everyone has a different mental make up.

Does she mean things like this or was it something far more serious?

It could also mean, someone in the family touching her regularly - not private parts but just an excuse to touch... arms, feet, hands, or kiss on cheeks in an uncomfortable way.

It can also mean indecent exposure or more sexual activities with the kid, for a very long time.

Its really hard to comment on what the situation may have been with no details here..How serious or bad it was.

Schizophrenia is a mental illness. There are sexual offenders suffering with the illness though it really depends. Crime is many cases is related to psychosis. Sexual abuse during childhood can also lead to psychotic disorders in adulthood.

TBH, its really hard to tell & I wouldn't really blame anyone. It could be a servant/or someone who worked too. I don't think she was on her own as a kid, she must have had a full time nanny looking after her. Also, people throw the word 'abuse' very easily. It may or may not have been serious, but having low self worth/esteem makes girls vulnerable to predators.

Well firstly I'm really sorry about what happened to you... those people were disgusting 🤢! And I totally understand why you wouldn't necessarily report touching/groping if they were one time offences perpetrated by strangers...

Actually come to think of it even I had something similar happen to me once when I was 11 or so... a taxi driver (appeared to be in his 30s) who was dropping me and my family home from a shopping trip started chatting to me outside our house while my mom was getting the shopping... and as he spoke he grabbed my hand and started rubbing it on his thigh 🤢🤢... but when my mom came back he immediately let go, took the money from her and drove away...

I don't doubt that such things have happened to many girls in India (especially if I can experience it even here in the UK), and yeah I totally understand that it is difficult to report, and most decide it's not worth the trouble...

But that kind of incident doesn't seem to be what Ira is talking about... she is saying she was abused (not assaulted), and that too repeatedly. There doesn't seem to be any logical reason why a girl from an extremely rich and powerful family , who is clearly comfortable talking about these issues in public wouldn't report serial abuse 😕

There could be several reasons, it may have been reported for all we know. It may have been a hushed up affair, since she would have been a minor at the time, details might not have been disclosed. Also in cases where there is no penetration such cases are hard to prove even in cases where the victim is rich. Money can only get you so far. I’m inclined to think that it could have been someone who worked for her. Even a relative abusing doesn’t sound plausible. Maids/servant abuse is very common too. My dad remembers his caretaker pinching and hurting him when he was a kid, even though my grandfather was at such a senior IAS officer.. he used to work closely for people like prime minister and president of India.. Imagine people are not even afraid

Another incident, my friend’s dad was a minister.. and his family was at a store.. the owner was so bad tameez.. and some assault happened with his mother in the store (a big one). My friend told me ke even though his dad was in power at the time..it didn’t deter the owner

I’m inclined to think that not everyone in power misuses/ intimidates and there are all kinds of people. Some people take panga even if the other person has a gun. They live like there’s no tomorrow 😆

Let me tell you at that time my family had more power than a Bollywood Star, some people are still unafraid. 😆

Fair enough...

I don't think I'm in a position to say Ira is definitely lying (don't know her, don't know the person she's accusing)... and I generally find it unfair when people disclosing things like this are straight away called liars...

But the timing and method of said disclosure seems suspicious...

If the girls are traveling in public transport.. touching and groping is very common in india... 🤢. I hated everything about it.. I remember I used always keep a safety pin with me while traveling in very crowded public buses.. If some guy stand next to my seat and try to touch me.. I used that pin.. :)
