Yes, Indian parent-child relationship is toxic but you can't blame only the parents for that.
Kids in west start working and earning at a young age, and leave the house to live on their own once they turn 18. Indian kids don't want to go through all that hassle. They live on their parents money until they get a white collar job because doing odd jobs is below their status. They are more happy being jobless than doing any kind of job.
Indian kids only want the perks that kids in the west get, but don't want to take the responsibilities that comes with these perks.

What you said is absolutely right but even what the TM said is also right. I think TM should have put another title instead of generalised title. The problem is that kids are scared that their friends or other kids of their age will ridicule them which is actually true. Unlike west kids and even adults look down on people doing small jobs even though for pocket money. In Hannah Montana, the FL's school going elder brother worked at a small shack on a beach that also with a small kid as his boss even though his dad and younger sister were singers. But in an Indian youth show Humse Hai Life, when a poor orphan who studies in an expensive school on scholarship while also working at a cafe to earn money for herself, her mama, her cousin and for other things the school bitch ridicules her for it. That's the difference of how media shows content in different countries. Unlike the FLs brother in Hannah Montana, the school bitch in Humse Hai Life has always been pampered and spoilt and got everything without struggle while the guy even being from a rich family has no shame in cleaning dishes and tables, cooking snacks and waiting at the shack. The only problem he had was the kid owner who would bully him but in funny way. He would be always loggerheads at him. Can Indian youth shows show a teen from rich family doing small jobs for pocket money without any shame?
Yes they are. To many high expectations.
No, I don't think so. Not all Indian parents are toxic. Many of them are lovely and I actually love this culture where we live with our parents. If you have understanding and loving parents then it's amazing. They took care of you while you were young and so now it's your duty as well to support them when they're old now. Isn't it!!❣️❣️
I don't understand why is there a need to compare indian parents with western culture or any other culture. No good parents would want bad for their kids. Surely they can be conservative by their thoughts, and put many restrictions over their kids, but it's the way people have worked here. There is love and respect amongst members of the family.
I feel instead of living alone or separately, it's better to live with your parents and family.
Depends on the family, their values, and probably to some extent the environment they are brought up in. My cousins in became accountants and shifted their base from one city to another after receiving good job offers in India hence even in India the situation depends on how each parents take care it. Even in my family, my siblings and I are independent yet ensure to remain in contact with our parents so my parents gave the liberty to do whatever we wanted to in terms of career & yet not lose the child in us so perhaps the experience might be different for me vs those who grew up with parents having expectations. . So, I guess it depends on the parent-child relationship.
I have seen kids with parents having high expectations, not just Indian parents, and each individual has a different take: either they rebel or they stick with it. Ultimately, they decide.
