The emotional scenes were out of this world. Everyone loves being a Yash Chopra heroine. 🤗

Every actress loved being a Yash Raj heroine, that doesn't make the role path breaking.

That doesn't make the role path breaking either.
After DDLJ's immense success, everyone was expecting DTPH to be an another huge lovestory between SRK-Madhuri. But probably for the first time in BW history, the audience resonated more with the third wheel, rather than the lead pair.
The impact of Nisha was huge. Indian girls barely hit the gym before, but after DTPH, the "fitness dance" trend started in urban India.
It also helped that SRK-Karishma was a fresh-pairing while all other actresses who were offered the role had worked with SRK (Manisha, Raveena, Kajol, Urmila, Juhi). Probably that's why they rejected.
I also read it somewhere that Karisma herself was the first choice. The role circled back to her when everyone rejected. Even if that isn't true, Lolo most definitely DESERVED the role and did FULL JUSTICE.
She just NAILED that role. Can't imagine anyone else as Nisha, except Urmila because she was equally a good dancer.
The role may not look path-breaking now (from 2020 perspective), but it was path-breaking for its time, considering the craze and reception it got from the audience.
It could have been played by anyone. Bas thoda dance ki requirement thi
She was the only good part of the movie plus the songs. So yeah, I would say she was apt!
I remember her scenes more than mads from the movie.
