About Darga meet,

Anjali - Mysterious: Made an entry on to the fashions show stage and disappeared after the chit chat.

Demands her brother to visit a Darga and disappeared once again. Arnav was not interested in puja paat and he performed everything like a chore. Mannat mangee tho Anajali saath me chalee jaati to just make sure he is doing things correctly. According to later episodes, Arnav doesn't even know which direction to turn the puja thaal in front of the idols.

Husband's name was taken but, husband was no where to be found.

Babuji, Amma, Buaji and Payal are all in their element.

Cheers.....

On your random commentary:

Your points are all good.

I noticed one more thing. When Khushi ran behind Arnav to make him realise his mistakes, on the way she made lot more mistakes. She jumps over a person, she crashes into people, because of her, a man loses all his pigeons and one man falls on mud pots breaking them and in turn hurting himself.

in her musings she said, because of Arnav Payal's wedding was broken. As far as I know Arnav's detention made her not reach home in time for the wedding with shop papers. Does that mean, she was OK with her parents to give the shop papers to Abhishekh and get Payal married to Abhishekh?

If Abhishekh is in agreement with dowry, Payal was going to back off from the wedding anyway, wasn't she?

Cheers.....

Anjali, Shyam and Akash just mysteriously keep appearing and disappearing. I think the makers forgot that Delhi and Lucknow aren't two neighboring houses but two separate cities with quite some distance in between.

Anjali and Akash were present in Lucknow but weren't present at the fashion show. Anjali showed a glimpse at least, Akash didn't even bother showing up.

And Shyam who should be in Delhi also turns up in Lucknow later! Like what?! 😲 Lucknow has suddenly become the go-to fav spot for all the family members 😆.

You know, just yesterday my own brother started turning the Puja thaal in opposite direction and I immediately remembered your comment! 🤣 Arnav has a good excuse because he is an atheist and doesn't participate in all this puja paath generally. But my brother?! 🤔 We perform Aarti in every Navratri and on other festivals too and he always takes part! Some men I tell you! 😆

Thank you! 😳

You're right! Khushi caused so much harm and damage to people and property in her mad rush to reach Arnav! Her baad me aake maafi mangna isn't really worthwhile after causing all this upheaval. I understand the makers wanted to show her being clumsy (which she undoubtedly is) but it's a bit too much. 🤔

Not really important... but I don't understand how that man was carrying pigeons in a BASKET?! 😕 A cage would've been okay, but why aren't the pigeons flying away from the open basket?! Maybe he had tied a thread to their legs (and connected it to the basket)? 🤔 In that scenario the pigeons wouldn't have flied away later on...

The pot breaking scene was completely unnecessary and avoidable! 🙈

I don't think Payal had any intention of backing off from the marriage. To be honest, their plan didn't seem well thought out - they wanted to know if Abhishek was involved in the dowry demand or not. Okay cool. But what after knowing? They hadn't thought it through and everyone just plays the blame game unnecessarily. I believe no one apart from the dowry demanders need to be blamed. Or all the Guptas need to be blamed for thinking of agreeing. And Khushi herself with her half-baked plans is surely at more fault than Arnav comparatively!

I don't agree with Arnav's methods of detaining her and not cross-questioing his own team and managers. Also, the dori breaking was absolute NO! No matter what she said about his sister, he crossed the limit there! And he had been the first to say things about her and her sister so Khushi wasn't so wrong in pointing out how it feels when it's their own family members name being tarnished.

Khushi has a reason to be upset for all this but she doesn't have any reason to blame Arnav for Payal's broken marriage.

EPISODE 4 - Dargah Meet Continuation

Hello!

Instead of doing a recap of the entire episode in a sequential manner, I'll be going character wise. Anyone who wants a proper recount of the events can read the written update here.

Watch the episode here.

My update will explore each of the characters (except Arshi) who appear in that particular episode. It will first have a description of the scenes of that character followed by my analysis of their behavior.

Note: The Character analysis is written from the perspective of someone watching the episode for the first time and being completely unaware of what is going to happen in the future episodes.

Amma - Is still a little angry with Khushi but mellows down soon seeing her nautanki (drama). Eventually the mother-daughter reconcile and are having fun dancing around. She knows Buaji will scold Khushi unnecessarily so saves Khushi from her and they go together in the market. A shopkeeper makes sly back-handed comments on Payal's broken marriage and Amma stops Khushi from speaking up at first but when it gets too much, she allows Khushi to stand up and get back at that man.

My view - We finally see the ice cap melting... basically Amma's anger going away. The way she is happy to see Payal smiling and having fun reminds us that she was only looking out for her other daughter's happiness and now that she is happy, even Amma is more at peace. Khushi's antics are irresistible for her as her expressions clearly show how interested she is in listening to her stories and trying to fight off a smile because she wants to appear miffed yet. But she can't show this fake anger for long and happily accepts her daughter back. Later when Babuji makes an excuse for both of them to escape from Buaji, she is unwilling to go while leaving Khushi alone. That goes a long way in redeeming her character for me after the previous 2-3 episodes. And she knows when to speak up and when to remain shut. It's pointless to argue with random people but sometimes one needs to defend their loved ones too.

Goods : Loving mother, knows how to have fun once in a while, saves Khushi from Buaji and is upset when the shopkeeper goes on and on about Payal's broken marriage. Such ideal motherly behavior!

Bads : Won't say anything for this epi, I've already bashed her much in the past few. 😆

Payal - She tries to appear unaffected but admits to Khushi that it's not easy for her to forget everything so soon. She is glad to not be married to Abhishek though, she knows that dowry demands would never cease and this would have only caused problems later on. Has fun with Khushi and family but later is shocked to see Khushi on the news in such a manner.

My view - Like I've said before, Payal is the quintessential elder sister in these episodes. She tries to cheer up the younger one and gives in to her antics. I like the fact that she enjoys Khushi's nautanki and takes part with her instead of just standing around or worse... being annoyed with all this. She tries to indicate Khushi that Amma is watching but is later glad and smiling when she sees that Amma is trying to keep up a facade but is actually not angry with Khushi any longer.

Goods : Looks out for Khushi even when she is the one who needs to be cheered up. They're both each other's support system. She knows and understands that greed for money is never ending and would have caused problems later on.

Bads : Payal says that if Khushi had came on time, the marriage would have taken place! So even for all her words about "Dahej ki bhukh" (greed for dowry), she would have gone ahead and married the man! Maybe they should all thank Khushi and also Arnav for inadvertently saving Payal (because they clearly had no intention to stop the marriage otherwise)! 🤔

Babuji - Fun loving man and is happy to see the family happy again. Excuses himself and his wife to save them from Buaji's rant. Also makes an excuse for Khushi later upon his wife's reminder. He is proud of Khushi for the way she handles people and also for saving them from cheated.

My view - He is a complete family man. I've already said lots about him earlier so won't repeat the same things but just glad to see an understanding and unorthodox man like him who doesn't mind relying on his daughter for keeping the accounts or other things.

Goods : Enjoys with the family. Excuses not only himself but his wife too - a good husband who will not leave his wife at the mercy of his sister's razor sharp words. He is proud of the way his daughter can speak up and defend them, he doesn't want them to be docile and accepting of whatever happens even if it is wrong! This goes a long way in telling us why Khushi is so independent, because she was raised in this manner!

Bads : He needed his wife to remind him that Khushi shouldn't be left alone with Buaji. Out of all the people there, Khushi was the one who needed saving the most! How could he forget her! 🤔

Buaji - She is shocked to see the family celebrating and having fun just a day after Payal's marriage broke. Later on, she receives another shock when a relative / friend calls to inform that Khushi is on the news.

My view - It is understandable that she is shocked by the dancing around - it's just been a day yet! Although I don't see why she needed to scold them for the same but it is understandable nonetheless. Again, the news item was shocking enough so can't really blame her for it. But the fact that she was sure Khushi was already "gul khilaing" before this is too much. She has already decided that Khushi is upto no good and the news just confirms her worst suspicions.

Akash - His entry! The first glimpse we see of Akash is him fast-walking behind Arnav with a serious expression (which makes me laugh as many times as I watch it). He is like Arnav's PA here, giving him updates on what is going on in the office and home. Knows Arnav very well and predicted that Mool Rajani is going to face some serious action.

My view - Arnav's go to person for knowing what's happening around - personally and professionally. Although brotherly love and care is not directly visible, it is evident that they are close when Arnav notices his expressions and knows something is wrong. Will wait for his character to develop further. 😊

Mool Rajani - A man who doesn't know when to stop talking. Loud mouth but greedy.

My view - I like the cultural nuances given to various characters in the show - like showing Mool Rajani as Sindhi here. He uses the dialog "Me apne Baap se bhi ek ek papad ka hisab rakhta hu" - it is a common saying that Sindhi people are very particular about money and keeping accounts. So this goes with his character here! [No offense to anyone! I'm not saying all Sindhis are greedy or loud mouth... just that I Iiked the dialog and accent given to show a cultural touch]

He gives the impression of a person who will take the money for now but strike back later. For all his threats, he settled way too quickly at the check offer! 🤓

That's all for the character analysis. What do you think? Do you agree or disagree to what I said... like / comment and let me know smiley4.

Now, as someone who has actually seen the entire show multiple times, I've a few questions rising in my mind. Along with that, I've some silly and some important observations. So here is my Random commentary on the episode -

1. Why is Buaji constantly rubbing her neck in this manner. Has she got a sprain there? 🙈😂

Image

2. Buaji says to Shashi - "Joru ke saamne Bandar ban sakat ho" which further emphasizes what I keep saying. Garima is the decision maker in the home while Shashi is the one following and adhering to it. Although Buaji here meant the dancing but this is what their family dynamics also represent. 🐒

3. What exactly was Buaji intending to do to Khushi had Shashi not called her away?! She looked quite scary in that moment 😥.

Image

4. Buaji says "Shashi Jijaji naahi hai" on the phone. So it was someone from Garima's family / friends! Why aren't we ever shown their other family members? I had thought that there was no one from Garima and Khushi's biological mother's family left now... 😳

5. Akash and Arnav both call each other Bhai here. So the dynamics of elder bro-younger bro are not clear yet although we can see that Akash follows Arnav's footsteps. 👬

6. Akash was in Lucknow (he says Arnav has a flight in the evening, which must be for going back to Delhi) but couldn't bother showing up at the fashion show. 🤔

7. Is it only me or does Akash really speak in a weird voice in this epi? It's almost like he has Paan/Gutkha or something stuffed in his mouth while talking [Need I insert a stationary statutory warning here? 😆]

8. The way that guy in the news channel sensationalized the entire thing did way more damage than the actual clipping. Did Arnav / his PR ask them specifically to do this or they just added the Mirchi masala themselves? 🌶

9. Hey! Hooking an eyebrow is Arnav's copyright in the show. How dare this news anchor do that! (But I'll admit his dramatic storytelling can be catchy; although people like me would most likely just laugh at his antics rather than taking the news seriously 😆).

Image

10. Khushi says "kal jo hua so hua" (when talking to the shopkeeper). So it's just the next day yet! They went out for the Urs in the morning and came back - all this is happening in the Afternoon / Evening. Woah! 2 days aren't over yet and so much has happened in their lives! 😲

11. Khushi munching on her ber and singing along "Ambe, tu hai Jagdambe" was meant to highlight how innocent and unprepared she was for the upcoming onslaught. 🥺

12. Khushi uses simple English words like mood, thank you, etc. So she isn't into pure Hindi speaking yet - unlike what was portrayed later in the show. 🤔

Episode 4 Review :

Light-hearted epi with some moments of family bonding and whistle worthy drama.

Scene(s) of the Day -

Image

The poignancy of the first scene hits me. Khushi's hesitation while reaching out for her mother's hand... she is still unsure whether Garima will allow her to hold her hand or go away again. And she needs assurance from her Amma that she is indeed her daughter. 🥺

The second one is when Garima stops Khushi from speaking up when the shopkeeper starts deriding them about Payal's broken marriage. But when he goes too far, Garima removes her hand - an indication to Khushi that she won't stop her now and she can go ahead and speak against that man. 😏

I love how both these scenes say so much with just a pair of hands - same people but different situations and different interpretations. ❤️

Dialog of the Day -

"Devi Maiyya ki marzi ke bina koi kuch nahi kar sakta! Koi Arnav Singh Raizada bhi nahi!"

Not for Devi Maiyya or the religious connection but for the sheer fact that Khushi huffs in victory after this sentence. She knew she had hit the bull's eye and hurt his ego big time! Arnav releasing the fashion show footage in retaliation is proof of how much this statement affected him... he wanted to prove that it's people like him - with power and money - who decide things in this world. Not her Devi Maiyya.

Special element of the Day -

The song Roop suhana lagta hai from movie The Gentleman (1994).

Do you have some more observations from this episode? Let me know if I missed something... however small and seemingly unimportant it maybe... after all we always keep discovering new things about this evergreen show smiley10.

All perfect but I have a couple of observations

Arnav calls Akash Bhai as if he's older then suddenly Arnav became Bhai to Akash 😂😂😂

If Arnav is so powerful he should just cancel the shoot and go to someone else instead of paying extra money to that Mool Rajani

Meanwhile I had all but forgotten this guy when I saw him in another show as a Dr and I was like I have seen this face and was like Arey this is guy Arnav slapped for 2 Crores.

For mom's insult 2 thapad to Rajani and again 2 thapad to Snakewa. Dishoom dishoom kyun nahi kiya like Himmat kaise hui Mere Khushi ko haath lagane ki.

They both call each other bhai in this episode... I've already mentioned this is in my random commentary above.

You're right, I never saw the point of Arnav giving him so much money. But maybe, Mool Rajani might really have some power in their profession, after all his threats did give such an indication. So it could be that Arnav didn't have the choice of canceling the contract altogether.

PhatiSari had mentioned somewhere in her episode analysis and I agree too... slaps are far more insulting than punches.

Arnav does the full movie style dishoom dishoom in Nainital and also during kidnapping because they were dealing with goons. For Mool Rajani and Shyam, instead of the actual physical blows, the insult of a slap is more meaningful. That's my take on the scene and I'm quite happy with the way he dealt with Shyam. Maybe legal action would have been a good thing, but not really into violence. The slaps sufficed along with the collar pakadke kicking out.

savera84, renee.bee, and ssttuuttii, wonderful idea. great to see this thread. one can never finish talking about ipkknd and the more you discuss, the more remains to be pondered, cogitated on, have long chats over.

your format is very interesting. hope to drop in and see the discussions.

just read a bit about asr and that entry of his. haven't seen the episode in a while, but that arcing helicopter whirs in the mind. the long legs unfolding, the music signature hinting at a man with more than just power...

he is standing legs a little apart planted firmly on the green, a slight furrow between the brows dominating the frame. and those deep dark eyes fringed by thick eyelashes. you know it's all in those eyes but you don't all of it. there's pain, there's mystery, there's anger, there's energy, there's victory, there's spirit, there's determination, there's purpose, there's a shutter. you can't see beyond it. like something has been closed permanently, no one is allowed in.

then that slow striding walk, oblivious to all that's happening around. the moving blades of the helicopter and the grass beneath, the still dark mansion in front, a man walking ahead.

and finally the confrontation with chacha ji, the past, injustice. a suitcase snapping shut. eyelids lifting. pigeons flying out, startled. a young, lean man rising slowly and a smoky voice with hidden steel uttering the unforgettable: arnav singh raizada ka nishana kabhi nahin chugta.

his first words were his name. his identity. of utmost importance to him.

then, that blatant, in your face, mocking: paisa mera shauq nahin, pesha hai.

i think of michael corleone in the godfather whenever i think of this scene. that a not very tall or imposing young man from west delhi (not the posh side of town) with no formal training in acting could create this aura, this atmosphere, makes it even more thrilling.

thrilling, he was always that.

very interesting discussion.

agree about the thappad being more insulting and the rage more focussed in that act.

about that throwing of money recklessly and the incensed, heightened anger... could this be hinting at his character? his gussa? so much a part of him. out of control anger... perhaps a result of all that's happened in his life or perhaps an inherent part of character... but an anger that can't be reigned in. makes him do crazy, unreasonable, even terrible things. the very cool and calculated asr is completely tripped by this gussa of his. in episode 2, he has snapped an unknown girl's choli strings. here these slaps... much later on a chaotic night, a terrifying wedding. could mool rajani thappads and crores be telling us of things to come?
