What exactly aee the facts And stats that Arnab has apart from “kanagna said” and “this what’s app chat ka screenshot”...that’s grounds enough to call an industry scum? Udta Punjab raises awareness but never called Punjab as filth or scum or anything derogatory...it just highlighted the existing problem with facts backing it up..but presented as a fictitious story / characters

@Bold, I think that is what becomes a moot point. When & where to draw the line. If we look at it, we can however see clearly that the media houses had an agenda at that point of time - distraction & TRP.The Media has a responsibility to report facts, they cannot call themselves news channels if they are cooking up stuff.

Though, it's not the first time that movies have been censored or banned. The marathi movie Halala was based on a issue but still banned. Movies, only incases where it offends a certain community does it get banned.

That’s why there is a censor board clearance required for movies. “News channels” have zero compliance and held to no standards in the race for TRP’s. If anything, this should atleast let them pause before naming and shaming without evidence.

The difference between Freedom of Speech and Slander is clear. News channels are specifically called out for latter, not for reporting facts.

Every movie has their disclaimer in the beginning about fiction to save their behind. Yes, they get defamation cases still like the Beyoncé song that had to be replaced.

She gets a whiff of some potential award winner regional film, she offers them to promote the film as a presenter, so the guild didn't approach her. Yeah, you could be right about that. The ones missing are not important PHs so maybe they were just not asked.

I didn't even realize Balaji was missing. She must have refused to sign. That's shocking actually.

Also shocking is that Akshay did come on board. He must have gotten pissed because bhakts have been attacking him for a while. But still weird. Arnab and Navika even hid his name and pics when they were doing those ridiculous ISI stories about Anil Mussarat where they tried to slander everyone else. Even Akshay doesn't have any real production house.

Reminds me of a book I read - Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson (also adapted to a movie) - the protagonist (a 13 year old girl) mentions that Mary Angelou's books being banned in the school library , 'she must be a really great writer if the school is scared of her.' Mary Angelou serving as a symbol for her to speak up.

Problem is that there was no line or demarcation set. Every time they crossed, they just moved the goal post along. Calling the A-Z actors names in NCB leak falls under reporting but naming them without evidence is slander. Similarly fascism, Nazis are all banned in parts of the world and thodi safai toh hogi hi.

About time for a precedent kyunki kangaroo courts setting jail and bail was a bad idea to begin with. It needed to be nipped in the bud but abhi toh stem hogaya hain

I thought the news offices are in Noida? I have seen Ravish there once. I know that Arnab used to come to the Noida office as well.. don't remember when but..

Few years back my friend worked in the area. Me and my friend casually got inside TOI office at 10 PM sat inside the premises, and had tea with without any pass or ID..on the sofa indoors.. No one asked a thing. We had no business being there 🤣

That's interesting but let's wait and see what happens. They may have their reason for choosing a different jurisdiction. These guys like Saket want a full on war because for them, nothing less than an open attack against the BJP will suffice. But the film industry has to be strategic in how they do things.

Even the timing they chose is good. They waited until Arnab and Republic were already under fire. The TRP scam has reduced their credibility, Rhea is out, and theaters are about to open. The power dynamic is changing and shifting to their side. There would have been no point in doing this 2 months ago. Sometimes you have wait and choose your battles. Filing in Delhi may be for a reason too.

If it was really toothless, they would have just put out a statement about an intent to sue. That is not what happened here. They have actually filed a case.
