What if it's a family member. Mother, father, brother, sister... Would you avoid them as well? If anyone of them are diagnosed with a mental illness and their spouse leaves them for it without even giving it a try, how would that make you feel?

Mental illness does not come within a timeframe. What if you marry someone and then they get a mental illness? Knowing them the way you did and loving them for a long time... Will it suddenly make them less deserving of that love?

And finally, the big one. What if you get a mental illness in the future.. Would you be alright if all the people you love think you're undeserving of theirs and you should forever be alone. That it's social work to be with you and you're not worth it.

We must treat others the way we want to be treated.

None of us are exempt from mental illness. It can happen to you tomorrow. And it can happen to your child in the future. We need more empathy. Society treats mental illness like the plague but only when it happens to someone close to you is when you understand how much more love and affection and feelings of worthiness they require. Assurance and compassion.

If your son and daughter has a mental illness, would you use the same words you use for someone else's sons and daughters?

Yeah, society is f*cked up and most people treat peeps with mental illness like dirt, but that doesn't mean we gotta add to the stigma as well.

I do understand that not everyone can take take it or they can onsider it a burden or self preservation or whatever but atleast we can be kind with our words. Cause a lot of it seems borderline discriminatory.

You can become mentally ill tomorrow. How do you want to be treated? Treat people the same way.

You said it all

This whole circus could have been avoided if not for likes of Arnab and Kangana.

Actually, yes.. I did have a family member and I don't want to marry someone with a mental illness.

I don't have the energy to deal with it anymore. Its my personal choice and if people who have never been through such situations want to judge, go ahead and do it. I still stand by my decisions.

Well, don't respond, your choice. But let me clear it out that it wasn't selective reading or understanding. You just got one small thing to hold against me because you didn't have any argument against the hypocrisy I exposed of we human beings. I wasn't even sitting on a high horse claiming to be above others. I'm also like the rest. Can preach but can't practice.

As for the lower paragraph in your post, I even addressed that in my reply even if I edited it out :

We don't change ourselves but expect others to do the tough work. Ends up resulting in nothing changing at all.

Oh well, I guess you truly can only preach but can't practice. I think I can do both and that too pretty well. I believe in being kind so whatever you may say, I will not make any judgemental remark on you. If you think I have got nothing to counter, feel free to think so. ⭐️😳

Have a good night ahead.

I never said that they should be ill treated or differentially treated.

I don't think so. You say you will not make any judgemental remark on me but you already did that in your previous reply.

Welp, I would have to choose not to respond then because this is what I would call a selective reading and understanding. You clearly couldn't understand my thought process for what I said in the first half was linked to what I did in the second half so I believe, it would be futile to say anything anymore. smiley1

Me saying that you did a selective reading of my comment is a judgemental remark?

Ah, you know what, whatever you want to make of it really. ✌

Yeah I think it was because you just said that I couldn't understand your high quality post but didn't bother to give any further explanation because it would be futile like I'm an idiot and you're an intellectual.

And there on one side, we write posts about being kind to people, being mindful about their mental health and on another side, persistently drag an unnecessary argument when the other person is religiously trying to avoid it.

🤓

I am outta this place because I am mindful about my mental health. I hope this is not an issue to anyone. 🤓

Prioritise family and very old close friends over everything. In your difficult times, the kind of support you are getting makes a heaven and hell difference.
