And this is why we need awarness regarding mental health cos first off never use words like mentally ill and second of the prejudice like this that exist in the society regarding mental health.. Neither is its partner's responsibility to be their therapist nor it gives society the right to form opinions like this and generalise mental health problems...

Except in very rarest of the rare cases, of course.

This is true too actually. Women also get shamed with the “crazy ex girlfriend” label

Literally never said that they are rehab, but mentally ill people already go through enough generalisations about them without one more being added to it — that they’re someone to be avoided.

Indian society thinks women rehabilitation centres for badly raised men too. If they have a mental illness/ have an affair/ abuse alcohol and drugs. She LED him to that. She didn't keep him happy enough.

Sorry but other people are not rehab centers or nurses for the mentally ill. In India, nobody understands mental illness and there is a lot of hate for women in general. If you're a woman, never date or marry a mentally ill man. Anything and everything that goes wrong will be blamed on the partner. She will be called names and accused of being a witch and gold-digger who was taking advantage of him and his poor mental condition. There will be accusations of black magic and even the girl's family will be harassed.

Don't throw yourself into the fire for anyone else. Self-preservation is important.

And let me just say this - while I totally support anyone and everyone who does not want to get involved with mentally ill people - this is a very harsh way to put it the way you have.

I think what Autumn_Rose is saying is not wrong on an individual part. Not many people like to indulge in folks with mental illness. Not many people like to be in a relationship with them. Simply because it's not easy. It can be really draining and not everyone is willing to do that and I believe they shouldn't be made compelled to either. It's ultimately a choice.

Well, that's the thing. We only preach and never practice. We know that there is a stigma related to mental illness and it's wrong but we ourselves discriminate against mentally ill people. We only pity them but also stay away from them. Of course, our choice. Everything is a choice and as long as it's not going against our subjective moral fiber which we made according to convenience, it's fine. We don't change ourselves but expect others to do the tough work. Ends up resulting in nothing changing at all. As long as people don't stop discriminating against the mentally ill, the stigma related to mental illness will not go away.

Read it, but edited it out as I just found it as thoughts of a hopeless romantic which is far from the reality of this world. Also because I wanted to point out the above part of your post.
