Anirudh and Bondita - What I love about this show!

Hello everyone! I am not a very active member on India Forums, but after I binge-watched 80 episodes of Barrister Babu yesterday night, I am compelled to share my thoughts and feelings about this show.

It is very difficult to portray a relationship between an 8 year old girl and a 21 year old man (I'm assuming that's their age on the show) without any creepy/ romantic vibes. I can't imagine how tough it must for the actors mentally, to portray their on screen characters given their relationship as husband and wife. But, what I absolutely love about Barrister Babu is how there is not one scene of any touching between the two characters. Even when the bedwetting situation got solved, I thought they'd at least hug, but the sheer fact that creators kept it to joyful dancing and celebration sealed the deal for me with the show.

I've been following multiple interviews of Pravisht and Aura, and can I just say they're adorable cuttiess Even though the story is set in early/mid 1900s when child marriages were common, it is really difficult to explain that to 9 year old child actor and ensure that it doesn't affect her mentally. I sometimes hate the questions interviews put forward. They really want to put across the image of Anirudh-Bondita as a couple, but I love how Pravisht ensures to mention in every interview that the marriage was circumstantial and the relationship is more of a mentor mentee, so that it doesn't put in unwanted thoughts in Aura's mind. Even with the way Aura describes her character, I'm sure the creators have told her just what is needed and not got into the nitty gritty details of the relationship.

This is a story about a curious young girl who has finally found a person who can be her mentor, answer all her questions and guide her in paving a path for herself. I really love this nuanced approach of the show, restraining itself from emphasising on any "gradual romance" aspect. It is more of respect and mutual admiration they have for each other.

I really wish to list down what I like about this show! (Oh dear lord, I love this show so much)

1. Anirudh's character, thoughts, ideals and moral values.

2. Bondita's questions! Her monologues are pretty amazing. I love how she says "Kyon?" with utmost surprise and innocence.

3. THE MUSIIICCC - The background music is AMAZING! It is so catchy and so soothing to hear. The lyrics have so much meaning and depth. And all the flashback scenes that are shown along with the song!!

4. Various social evils and social problems that the show touches upon. It truly is a progressive show.

5. The relationship that Anirudh and Bondita share! I'm so glad there is no touching. Not one. No holding hand, no putting hand on head. Nothing! And yet the show can portray these characters so well! I can't emphasise enough on the beauty of this relationship. I may have to write another long post on that!! :P

I think, this show has great potential for story development. There are so many things that the show can touch upon. And a pandora box full of directions the story can take after the leap, but mann!!! Really want only Pravisht playing Anirudh. Please don't change that! He does great justice to the rolee :)))

Along with the likes, I think its fair to also put across what I dislike about the show

1. Saudamini - Oof lady! Why do you compete with a small little girl. It feels like they needed a villian for the show and hence have her. Anirudh and Saudamini's relationship could also be well cultivated and explored. Doesn't have to be cliche.

2. Again Saudamini - What "love triangle" do they want to show!! Oooff. PLEASE don't show that. Please. Its just not necessary.

3. Anirudh's anger - He loses his cool way too quick with Bondita. It's really pissing off. He should try to be calm with her at all times. And even if he loses his cool, don't be yelling at her like the end of the world!!

Sorry about this loooonnngg post! I just had to share it with you'll. Would love to know what you like about this show!

Lots of Love!
