The Gen-y actors have it tough. All of them are neck-to-neck and are in more or less the same boat. I guess Ranbir and Ranveer are still a little ahead, but Varun, Ayushmann, Tiger, Kaartik, Vicky Kaushal, Rajkumar Rao etc. are all more or less doing great too! They can be called content-driven stars, but they are doing well for themselves.

So...is this good news for the viewers? This is not like the 90's when the Khans were heads and shoulders above Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan, Sunil Shetty, Govinda and Sunny Deol. Here, there are no superstars like the Khans. The top star can change every year. It all depends on the content.

Competition will probably increase quality for viewers.

Varun is doing great? He’s definitely behind Tiger, Vicky, Ayushman and hasn’t had a hit since 2017!!!!

Varun and Arjun belong in the same category along with ARK, Sidharth Etc currently they’re strugglers

Varun has more fan following than Vicky. He did manage to give a 10 crore + opening on Street Dancer whereas Vicky gave 6 crore opening in Bhoot after the super-success of Uri.

Street Dancer also had Shraddha, Nora and a Franchise attached to it. With that in mind 10crore is disgusting especially because ABCD-2 opened to 14 crores - 5 YEARS AGO with the same team.

None of the post-2000 actors are superstars but there is miles of difference between RK, RS, Tiger and the rest. I'd say Varun and maybe Shahid straddle in between... but RKR, Ayushmann, Vicky have never given a single double digit opening (even Kartik only has one so doesn't count) so in the truest sense, they aren't even bankable "stars" yet.

In fact, I'd say that it was much easier for just anyone to achieve true stardom in the 90s than it is today. Aamir, Salman, and Hrithik saw it right off of their first lead films, SRK hit superstardom 2-3 years in where as the fastest rise today has been Tiger with Baaghi 2 yet he's nowhere near superstardom. I feel that audiences don't as easily accept movies with unknown faces today. The all-time blockbusters are pretty much reserved for the biggest names so in that sense competition has definitely risen. There is also a lot more content around with OTT but that also means there are more opportunities.

No i feel quality of acting is low nowadays so competition is low

Before in 90s many good actors were there like nana patekar, sunny deol, govinda, ajay devgan, rahul roy, akshay khanna

Than there were khans SRK, salman and amir khan who dominated nri markets

There was sunny deol and govinda who dominated indian markets

Now ayushmann, vicky, raj kumar rao etc are not exactly heroes or stars. They are like amol palekar of 70s

star cum actors are only ranbir and ranveer and hrithik may be

Rest are all mediocre and average will fade away after few years

so competition quality wise is low now than 90s which was highly competitive in acting skills atleast
