And while I dont think education defines everything, there are professions where expertise is paramount and specialised training is everything. As I said above- Medical or legal professions where people's actual lives are at risk are the last places where people like Kangana should be pushing their so-called knowledge for attention or to cover up that she felt insulted by Naseerudin Shah (I did not like his statement either). Formal education is not everything and there are many instances of people being smart despite not being educated, but that cannot replace actual expertise.

She said it best herself in her 2013 interview with Anupama Chopra where she last sounded like a sane person and not this version that is 24/7 making WTF statements for attention- she said actors are not surgeons or builders of bridges. Acting is all they know and such should stick to that EXPERTISE.

I sure as hell dont want an actress/actor pontificating on the brain- the same issue you all have been dumping criticism on Deepika for- suddenly it doesnt apply to Kangana eh?

Oh believe me, I as a fan am.not offended at all by the innumerable posts on her tweets, I rather enjoy it and find it amusing esp when it's posted not by her fan but her haters day in and day out. They follow her more than me, I must say .

Why should one talk only if you have knowledge on the matter, that is such a wrong trait to teach. I would encourage everyone to share their thoughts based on what they know on the matter. That is like telling a backbencher to not open their mouth coz they don't know the answer, telling a clerk to not voice his thoughts on office matter.

That is a wrong way Togo in my opinion

You do realize in the same tweets she's belittling the scientist by calling her Dr Dolittle. She's being condescending to the PhD holding scientist and insinuating she has morE knowledge than her. Take a look at the account of the scientist. It's actually her field. This is literally like arguing with a pediatrician on how to manage pediatric hypoglycemia because you read about it for a school project. This is embarrassing at this point.

Your are missing the point. If it is a classroom, sure a back bencher should speak out- it is a classroom and all.opinions count

When it is about a medical issue, which is a specialized knowledge and misinformation can actually KILL or HARM a person, then yes, the clerk or the backbencher should back off, stop their ego and not argue with the professional. Wasnt that Kangana's big issue with Deepika speaking as an authority on mental health? What a hypocrite!

Otherwise let's have Kangana and Taapsee (another science student I believe) compete in debates on neuroscience and medical treatments and actually undertake them for the population, shall we?

She is a joke and yes I too hope she continues revealing her idiocy to the public. She was a damn fine actress but unfortunately all of that is now overshadowed.

Agree that is wrong to name call and I do not agree on it but I do feel she is right in sharing her opinion on what she knows based on how much she studied or knows on the subject.

It creates for a discussion on the matter, like for me for eg, it made me look it up and learn about it.

Sometimes it creates a discussion and help us learn and it should be encouraged esp in youngsters

If it gives them time pass and they are able to vent their hatred or frustration that she is allowed to post her thoughts and opinions on her social media handle, then so be it.

You are absolutely right about educational degree and education in general.

Even if her thoughts are not right, does not mean she can't put forth her thoughts and bring forward her opinions on the issue with the knowledge she has about them.

Every person will put forth their thoughts based on the knowledge they have about it and how they percieve it, and they should come forward and discuss it . This way it will broaden your horizon and also learn.

As I said we need to make KR tweets a stick thread coz she isn't going to stop and neither are her closet admirers who follow her tweet and are quick to post it here in an instant.

Exactly. With this kind of attitude, we might as well stop questioning authority and experts altogether just cuz they have studied in their discipline for x number of years. Even in the research industry, there is a hierarchy of evidence & people question their peers (who are experts in their field). Autonomous learning is so important nowadays IMO because everything is money-driven.

So this kinda lame deference to authority rubs me the wrong way.

Absolutely, why not

Mental health is a topic that needs to be discussed esp the process of diagnosing and methods used in diagnosing. You don't need to be an expert to discuss it.

As I said, opinions and thoughts are based on your knowledge and your perception based on your exposure on that subject and it should be encouraged as it leads to a discussion that helps you learn.

for eg: this discussion led me to look up this very topic and I learned something.

What?Thats absurd.

Even if one of her gullible followers takes her words seriously and won’t take the help of a psychiatrist even if s/he needed one, the damage would’ve been immeasurable.

The way she is going around talking about mental illness, she is hurting the people who are actually going through such things.

Again, your knowledge and educational background is important.

this isn't a philosophy debate where there are numerous interpretations or answers of perspectives. What's she engaging in are concrete neuroscientific and medical topics. And there IS a right and wrong answer. You can't DEBATE or interpret that unless you're bringing up scientific primary research articles, NOT "I have taken private tuitions and built a model of brain in school". She's just arguing foolishly at this point. And tbh comes across delusional.

You can debate but debate in a field you have equal knowledge of. For instance, if you're a lay person, will you start arguing with your doctor about a medical topic? Or will you argue with a cardiologist on the diagnosis of an arrhythmia coz you read webmd? Come on, that's just ridiculous. People will degrees hold those degrees for a reason. It represents them holding a significant amount of knowledge OF that topic.

When you're ill, why go to a doctor? For that degree that you know a doctor spent years studying the pathology and human body.

LOL sorry but degrees don't represent knowledge, they represent training. And so typical of you to list webmd.😆 Of course a layperson can't base their opinion off a journal, like The Lancet? See, there are people who have an interest in subjects beyond their discipline. They are rare, but they exist.

Knowledge is self-cultivated and broad, not limited to a single discipline.

No, I will not argue with a doctor about that, the same way I won't argue with a mechanic about his diagnosis of the problem in my car part. It does not mean that it is wrong for me to argue with a doctor or a mechanic. Or question their diagnosis by asking their rationale.

You sound like a gatekeeper, like those cringy people who gate keep classical music by claiming to have a greater 'knowledge' of it.
