So all these star kids seem to go to NY to study acting-whatever that means. I think the latest is Kushi kapoor -daughter of Sridevi and Boney kapoor.

Almsot all of them-is it worth it or just a fad? I mean the oldies Jaya bhaduri, Sridevi, madhuri, Meena Kumari, rekha, Dilip Kumar, prithviraj Kapoor, Rajesh Khanna, Dimple Kapadia, Manisha Koirala all were nice actors-where did that skill come from. What does this acting skill provide??

Do you think any stupid acting school can provide this skill-j Rekha in this-the feelings this evokes-even aish couldn't copy this well.

At times acting schools are useful at times no!

If you can act naturally and have the skills, these schools help you to enhance them and get better!

But if you have no natural skills and only go to the acting schools it doesn't help...it's just bade logon ke shauk to be frank...

I don't think you can learn acting from scratch. First you have to have that in you, with hardwork and experience you can enhance it further. The reason why stars admit starkids NY acting school is that to keep them away from limelight here. Every move of them will be captured here, in adulthood it's disturbing so they deport them outside where they can freely complete their study. And most aspire to be an actor so they admit them in acting schools.

Studying in acting school just isn't worth it.

I think the whole concept of acting school works as blinkers. Be it outside or Indian acting institutes, they direct young talent to behave and act in particular way is the reason why creativity doesn't flourish fully. All these new actors look more rehearsed, doesn't seem like they are natural. All forced and plastic.

For these so called star kids, acting is like Papa's business. Aaye ya na aaye chalana padega. Baithna padega. No matter from where you learn acting but if you don't have the talent, even a pretty face cannot really give you any success.

Interesting. I wonder if this NY school can even give any hints about Indian acting. Culturally we are very far apart. What can they give emoting in songs, family dynamics etc?

Yesteryear actors all seemed to convey real solid emotions-just look at the emotions in this song . I rarely see anything like this among the current crop.

It depends. If you want to act in Indian films, studying acting in NY is pretty useless since the Hollywood style of acting and dramatics is very different from that in India. A place like ftii is a better bet given pretty much EVERY good Indian actor over the years (check their alumni) has come out from that institute.

But the problem is that these starkids won't be able to keep up with such an institute because

A- It's very difficult to get into the institute since everything is on merit. Limited seats so they literally choose the best of the lot through a gruelling process.

B- They will have to struggle in such an institute. It's like every other institute in the country. You have to share hostel rooms and have food in the mess (a close friend who is a pass out said to me that they literally have to live a struggling actor's life in thhat environment as well). There's absolutely no luxury as such since it's a govt owned place so you gotta manage with the basics. So obviously a big no no to the starkids for whom struggle means heating nachos with cheese in the microwave and making scrambled eggs in their luxurious rented apartments in NYC.

Hence they take the easy route, go to NYC, who is seeing where are they really studying or just chilling for two years. 😆 I remember both Ranbir and Janhvi saying that it was pretty much a waste of time. Guess they just want that NYC ka tag.

I always believed that acting is a gifted talent..it's somewhat innate. An acting school or whatever else can only polish and refine you but I don't think it can suddenly create a brilliant actor out of scratch.
