Since SH bought up Akki's name in his write up FYI, even Akki said he met Amitabh when he was young on a set.
At the recently concluded International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, Amitabh Bachchan was bestowed the Indian Film Personality Of The Year award. Akshay Kumar, who was presenting the award, got emotional on stage and narrated his first encounter with Big B that made him a fan for life.
"1980 mein, jab main shayad 12-13 saal ka tha, main apne maa-baap ke saath Kashmir gaya hua tha. Aur wahaan saab Kashmir mein shooting kar rahe the. Main inki shooting door se dekh raha tha, toh mere pitaji ne kaha, 'Jaa beta, autograph le aa.' Toh main bhaag ke gaya aur saab angoor kha rahe the. Maine autograph maanga. Jab sir autograph de rahe the toh meri nazar angoor pe thi, mujhe angoor chahiye tha. Ek angoor neeche gir bhi gaya. Jab woh likh rahe the, toh main chup kar ke neeche gaya, maine woh angoor ko uthaya. Yeh baat unhone dekh li lekin aise pretend kiya ki dekha nahi. Aur unhone sign karke mujhe mera autograph book diya aur saath mein itna bada angoor ka guchcha bhi diya. (In 1980, I was perhaps 12 or 13 years old, when I went to Kashmir with my parents. Sir was shooting there. As I watched the shooting from afar, my father asked me to go and get his autograph. I went running and he was eating grapes. I asked for an autograph. While he was giving me his autograph, I was eyeing the grapes, I wanted them. One of the grapes fell down. As he was writing, I quietly bent down and picked it up. He pretended not to notice and gave me back my autograph book, along with a huge bunch of grapes)," Akshay reminisced.
