If anything if one is seeing a psychiatrist then one of the most important elements to someone being a good psychiatrist apart from their knowledge and expertise of course is how they communicate with you. What questions they ask. The fact that anxiety in one person or depression in one person can look darn different at times from someone else is precisely why it is so important that one finds a good psychiatrist. Someone who understands your needs, your struggles, your history with meds and other illnesses you might have, your background and what you do before prescribing anything.

Not trying to pass a blatant judgement here but some of the stuff that I have across is that his legs used to go numb and shiver, that he used to be sleeping for the most part. Some of this stuff makes you wonder what meds was he being given and what was his dosage. Symptoms like your limbs shaking happen if you have been taking certain meds for a very long period of time and that too if the dosage is high as some of those meds have that as a side effect. The fact that he had been taking meds since the latter part of last year yet was already experiencing these symptoms and was still apparently continuing with it raises some questions here with regards to his psychiatrist.

How much agency did he have over his treatment. How often did he go to see his psychiatrist. So no...not every psychiatrist is good. Just like not every doctor out there is good. You can be a professional and still not be that great at your job. Just speaking from a general point of view. I wish the folks who have talked about mental health so much with regards to this case also delve into what that entails and how in a country like India, it is so difficult to even at times access a psychiatrist, forget a good one. You at times have to be darn privileged to have access to a good psychiatrist.

I agree!! Not every doctor genuinely care about their patient. Many just want to give you medication and they do not care about patient history. I believe one must do counseling therapy before take any medication. Even taking Anti Depressant medication has so many side effects and should not be on for long. There are many other methods that you should try. But I believe you must find a good counselor who is willing to work with for the first 6 months and make a plan what to include and what to avoid to find the healing. For that you need to be very open to your counselor so he/she can find what is the root of your anxiety.

I am also saying this that what medication was he taking? was he taking anti depressant medication? or was he taking some very strong medication that patient take for bipolar or other serious illness? If the medications was not working for him, then he should had went back to the doctor and told the doctor that it is not working.

I was not prescribed any medicine. I was prescribed therapy and counseling. The main reason being I still had a will to live and had an urge to plot revenge. This made me focus on changing thinking patterns to deal with life stress. Earlier I used to cry a lot. I could not stop my crying for hours. Now I cry, calm down and move on.

So happy that you did not took any medication. I agree about changing lifestyle. No matter how many session or medication can one take, but healing comes within you. You have to believe that everything will be okay. For that you need to let the toxic circle out, and create a new positive circle that helps you find YOU. I was going through such a challenging phase and once I left the negative circle, my life has changed so much. We need to remember our number one priority must be ourself. I am so glad I realized it on time. One is believe in yourself, second find things that define you, that you matter. You existence matters. Journaling and calm music has helped me a lot.

What patterns did you find that helped you? I am always interested to find new ways to find healing.

That tweet got deleted and replaced by another that says that Akshay went to left health materials or sth like that there, with Thackeray accompanying him (why?)

So either the handle realised it has nothing to do with the case, or they're hiding something. 🤔

I always lived with a fear of rejection. I never had proper friends in my school life. I was a over weight kid who was always ignored by everyone including teachers. I managed to bunk school and nobody cared. College was worst with behenji taunts. My first work experience pushed me nearly towards horrible depression. My ex colleagues would put devil to shame.

It took me years to understand that failure and rejections are part of life. It was difficult for me to understand why people hated me so much. I was over bearing and interfered in places where people were tolerating me as I was their collegue not a friend. Most people I know preferred to be comfortable with their own type of people. I do not drink, smoke or drugs. This creates a problem when you work in hospitality and you are constantly invited to cocktail parties.

Earlier I used to get offended and sad when no one talked to me entire day in the workplace and completely ignored me.

My therapy taught me.

1. Failure and rejection were part of life

2. Try to accept any short comings of my behaviors.

3. Understanding body language and non verbals cues. It helped me lot.

4. Understanding and maintaining distance from narcissist and psychopaths. Few people I have met and seen in real life could be tagged above.

5. Life is not predictable and things change within few seconds. It helped me deal with covid 19 lock-downs easily.

6. Handwork does not means success all the time. Sometimes luck is there to help you.

7. I learned social behavior and act as per social norms.

I had studied psychology earlier so I can understand the patterns in my behavior. So I guts to get help. My list might be intense, but I learned a lot.

i think what u suffered from was due to ongoing stressors in your life. In those cases medicine may help but more so therapy will make u better. In case of a major depressive disorder, why i said medicine is mainstay is because depression is not just psychological but also has a biological and genetic component to it.

If a person's genetic makeup makes him prone to depression, therapy works but not as the single option of treatment. Always medication alone or medication with therapy work better than therapy alone.

Also, Psychiatric illnesses are many, its a vast subject in itself and i have seen patients who refused to take medication suffer a lot because of the risk factors that they had.

Very interesting. You are a very strong person. You must be so proud of yourself. I struggled with the definition failure and how society looks for perfection. It took me while to accept it but with time I learned it. I cannot make everyone happy and I should not change myself to fit in. Right people will be there, hard part is working on yourself lol

at some point you have to become selfish to put yourself first. It took me a while to understand that. Once you do that, healing becomes a beautiful journey.
