I understood your point that's what I said that Mahabharata the war the characters has been documented at various places. Mahabharata had been found across country. The historians agree to that war itself not places.

Yes Ghaznavi's attack isn't debated so is the case with the Mahabharata war. The difference being that Ghaznavi came only 1000 years back, Mahabharata happened at least 3000 years back, obviously they would be more uncertainty of the the latter.

Anyhow I made this example to show that historical characters are heroes or villians as per afflictions, but fictional characters are fixed to be hero or villian, just like Harry potter wouldn't be a villian anywhere nor would Voltemor be a hero, but Duryodhan does become heroic for the Odhiyas, just because according to their history he is their son in law (affliction), hence the occurrence needs to be real

(by the way Suheldev wouldn't mention the name of Mizoram's then king right?)

Jarasandh was not from Maurya lineage. He was from Brihastha dynasty.

The direct line of Jarasandha terminates with Ripunjay who was slain, and his throne assumed by his minister, Sanaka, whose dynasty terminated in the fifth generation with Nandivardandhana. To these five princes one hundred and thirty-eight years are assigned.

From them the Haranayakas took over (Bimbisar and Azadshatru dynasty which were contemporary to Gautam Buddha)This dynasty ruled for around 200 years after which Shishunaga annexed the throne.

Shishunaga, and his progeny ruled around 80 years after which the illegitimate son of Mahanandin(Great grandson of Shishunaga) Mahapadmananda took over to start the Nanda dynasty. Dhanananda his son was the last king of this dynasty who was dethroned by Chandragupta Maurya.

I had the list of kings from Sahdev to PushyaMitra Sunga. Will try to post it tomorrow

About folklores there are immense number of folklores about historical figures (even about people as near as Hitler and Gandhi) folklores can be associated with real people itself not with fictional characters

Actually I read in Quora that a person named Arjun can't be a king because of the curse by Parshuram. Maharaj Arjun killed his father Jamadagni so He gave shraap that a person named Arjun can't be a king.

This is interesting. I wonder then why people name their children Arjun

@FP Yeah please do share the lineage. And just to clarify I know Jarasandh isn't from Maurya lineage. I wanted to know the succession thereafter. Thanx for all your inputs

Mahabharata Intially was not a novel it was not prose but poetry. With lot of similies metaphors and symbolism. A poem based on true events It's just that over the time while translating many of metaphors and similes have been translated literally hence drapaudi and drishtdyum are "agni janami" and Pandavas are "mantra prasad". But it is not very difficult to look through. There are many research papers and a lot of historical evidences of the dynasties that existed in Mahabharata time. One can easily search these papers on academia or read various articles on boloji.com. But before anything i suggest to read kmg and CE because that will make understanding easier. Its not a magical story but historical evidences.
