But it isn't a biography nor a documentary.

And is Jarasandh mentioned in that dynasty lineage? I couldn't find that. I would like to see if he is. Mauryas are my fave dynasty

It's the historical account of the war, it's causes and consequences.

Jarasandh was from Brihadasth dynasty not from Mauryan

Sreemad Bhagwatam lists the complete list of kings from Sahdev(Jarasandh's son) to PushyaMitra Sunga

Any author who writes historic would be referring to existing social norms/class/places /rules etc. But the characters in his 'novel' may or may not be real.

Its Ok, we can always have different pov. 🤗

Why do you think it's a novel?

Actually I read in Quora that a person named Arjun can't be a king because of the curse by Parshuram. Maharaj Arjun killed his father Jamadagni so He gave shraap that a person named Arjun can't be a king.

I still have doubt about the characters in that war/epic being real people. I hope I can finish kmg one day

Yh I wasn't saying Jarasandh is a Mauryan, I have read about the Mauryans and since they ruled Magadh I wanted to understand if there is a historic account of his kingdom being taken over by other kings and then Mauryans

I haven't ever read SB. Is it on the same sacred texts site?

Coz magic doesn't exist. By adding all the mystical element the author has taken creative liberty. Also I haven't exactly read anything that says Pandavs or Hastinapur existed. Where is it documented?

If it were a biography then yes it would be more reliable.

I don't mean to offend anyone. Just my inference.
