Was Rani the first choice for Black?

I remember reading that Aish was at some point between 2000 and 2004 the first choice for almost all big banners- from YRF to SLB to even VVC's Parineeta. But it didnt work out due to other reasons and then of course Rani took over. So it's possible that it was Aish, but again Im just speculating.

Hehe Aish has her pluses but Rani is truly gifted and a natural.

Kareena was the first choice for Black after she was rejected for Devdas. SLB promised her to give her a role in future when he thought Aishwarya was right choice for Paro, not Kareena.

Kareena then went on to journalists and talked about how SLB ditched her by not signing in Devdas. She said she will never work with such director. Also Amitabh Bachchan had reservation to work with Kareena after Abhishek broke her engagement with Karisma.

Rani was lobbying for a role in SLB's film. That time SLB was supposed to do Bajirao Mastani with Aishwarya and Salman.

Aditya Chopra lobbied for Rani to SLB for a role after watching Devdas. That time Rani was YRF resident heroine.

SLB cast her in Kashi bai's role in BM. That film got shelved when Aishwarya refused to star opposite Salman.

SLB then went on making Black with Rani. Since Aishwarya refused Mastani, SLB had to go to Kareena again. SLB tried to cast her in Black but her ego and Amitabh's refusal made Rani to sign that film.

SLB then again dropped Kareena from Bajirao after Kareena signed Kyonki with Salman. He wanted the pair to appear first time in his film.
