In what could be regarded as a big breakthrough in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, writer-director Rumi Jaffrey, who was a close friend of the dead actor, says Sushant had spoken to him about his depression.

#Sushant Singh Rajput

Says Rumi, “It happened in November 2019. I’m actually very bad with dates. But thanks to the mobile phone I remember it was November. Prior to that, Rhea Chakraborty had called to say Sushant was in a depression. I didn’t even know what it meant. But in November, I visited Sushant . He met me with the same warmth as he always did. He hugged me. He then told me that he was fighting off depression and that he didn’t know what to do about it. I was taken aback. ‘Arrey Sushant , tu toh star hai. Depression kyun?’ I just couldn’t understand what he could be depressed about.”

Rumi says he didn’t probe about Sushant’s condition. ‘Ek toh who mujhse umar mein bahut chhota tha. Doosri baat , he was a star. We all know when to stop before crossing the line with them. But I kept a close watch on Sushant’s health after he confided in me. He got admitted in Hinduja Hospital several times for depression. But the media was told he went in for various ailments like dengue, etc. But the fact is Sushant was being medically treated for clinical depression.”

I don't think there was ever a doubt on his depression..

TFS , TM.

But , not all depressed people end up taking their lives. A strong possibility , yes offcourse. But obvious? No not at all.

Certainly not as obvious as to say on the spot specially after the way the body was found.

Waiting for everyone to descend on this post and say it is "LIES!!" funded by KJO. All I can say is, I'm sure medical records exist. Very easy to prove what is truth and what is conspiracy theory. I mean the entire medical establishment, police and SSR's friends (those who have spoken about him being 'broken') cannot all be on KJO/Adi Chopra's payroll. To suggest so is silly.

It's sad nobody wants to focus on mental health as a conversation perhaps because it isnt so sensational. Yes, rectifying toxic elements of the industry such as blind items is also key and it is happening, but let's be reasonable and accept that even the best of us can be deeply depressed, even if the career/love life/money is going well. And I say this with deep compassion in my heart for SSR, without trying to belittle any of his struggles with acceptance within the industry.

I agree cause even if he wasn’t doing as well as 3/4 guys or “media made it seem 3/4 guys are doing better”

He’s still a movie star and got somewhere few get. I mean there’s so many more strugglers who’d wish to be there

He was admitted a few times which means his condition was really bad. If I'm not mistaken, this is a manic depression where your mind controls your body and you don't really understand whats happening hence u start lashing out. Staying at the hospital would calm the sufferer down. This is not some basic and normal depression he suffered from.

Wait for those who so badly wants his case to be "he was pushed" to come out and comment.

Its strange those who stand beside him during difficult psychological time like Rhea Chakraborty and other facing attack online and person like kangana who milking a tragedy who nothing to do him nor even care when he was alive going through difficult times due to may be he was below her status , hailed as some freedom fighter . its true and other thing to be critical all those PR attack in name of blinds and nepotism family circle .

That's the whole point! You could be SRK or Tom Cruise. You could be Sushant Singh Rajput, an absolute trailblazer for outsiders or you could be an Aftab Shivdasani, depression doesnt come only to so-called "unsuccessful" people.

People make fun of Deepika but I admire her for highlighting something important- you could have the world at your feet (to the outside world) but that doesnt insulate you from depression. People think when I make it big, I ll become happy. But it doesnt work like that.. and you have to constantly work at your mental health, reach out, not cut yourself off from people. surround yourself with people who care about YOU and not what you do professionally,

Having said that, were some people not nice to him? Or trying to compete with him through bad PR? Yes of course! But that's only one piece of the puzzle. The biggest piece or rather takeaway for all his fans should be how to not take our mental health for granted.

You are a lawyer no? Please forgive me if not , I just very vaguely remember reading in some of your posts.

Being a professional in field of mental health , I will never demean anything as horrifying as depression. But, I also know the fact that not all depressed people end up dying by suicide. , Yes it has possibility I agree. But it's not obvious to conclude.

The only obvious here is depression. Not the death. I am not saying bollywood or any one related have a motive in killing him or whatever but there are other people too who were aware of his condition. You are are lawyer , you must be knowing how people genuinely take advantage of the weakest points.

And when police didn't even see the body hanging, how did they conclude it as a suicide just after minutes.

The marks and everything else don't add up to his death due to suicide.

Doesn't mean he was not depressed! Nobody said he wasn't depressed. It was visible..Evident..

You are telling me in his last days Sushant was seriously depressed yet Rhea had the guts to fight with Sushant, left the home over a silly fight and left him alone? A guy who made her the board of director with her brother. Do you know how stupid this sound? No one is denying he had depression. The problem is how he had the depression. A person who was working on launching the game, opened two companies, wrote 3 scripts and one non profit. He was paying bills if rhea. Where the rumors came in he has no money, cannot afford bills.

we want to know who created false metoo movement? Who created false rumors of his character? There were too many false rumors on him.

supporting your favorite is great. This case is not about injury or breakup but a death. And try to educate yourself on depression. Like I have said so many times if you have not experienced or does not know about depression then please do not make a judgement. In depression you just want to stay in your room.
