AFAIK, Queen revived the era of women-centric successful films once more. However there are not many movies that were female-centric and were successful at BO in bollywood .

🤔..

It was a film on a female protagonist and was a clean hit long before Queen ever came out

There is a difference between a film having a female protagonist and film being female centric as in dealing with female issues.

Kahaani was a well crafted thriller that would have been successful even if the protaginist had been a male though credit to Vidya Balan Kapoor for giving a fantastic performance and proving that you do need a male protagonist to give a hit film.

Hain???

Kahaani, Ishqiya, Dirty Picture, English Vinglish, Astitva, No One Killed Jessica, Fashion, Chandini Bar, Page 3 all released in the 2000s before Queen. In fact the same year as Queen there was Mary Kom, Mardaani, Highway, Desh Ishqiya, Khoobsoorat, Gulaab Gang which were all female oriented.

Queen Made 220 crores at Box office worldwide.

Many of the films, though not all, you mention have a female protagonist though they are not female centric films. Having a female in lead does not make it a female-centric film.

@Bold - So it could have been a pregnant male looking for his missing wife ??? 🤔

In that case using your logic , Queen was also a well made film and could have worked if they showed a male protagonist getting dumped at the alter, going for his honeymoon on his own and making some quirky friends on the way.

How was Queen "more female centric" than the other films mentioned?
