Actually unlike Pandavas, Kauravas weren't described well. We know only 3 Kauravas : Duryodhan, Dusshashan and Vikarn. Vikarn was not so fond of his brother's ideology but he didn't leave him because of the love/respect for his brother and Dusshashan loved his brother very much. May be Shakuni made them well trained to listen to their eldest brother in all circumstances. And Duryodhan actually loved all of his brothers, friends and family.
I think in Kauravs case Shakuni too could have been a uniting factor along with the love the brothers had for Dury

If u remember chiilii once shared that vedvyas deliberately brought polyandry marriage coz he knew Yudi can't survive without his brothers.
I m just giving example not comparing anyone ram , lakshman, bharat , shatrugan were brothers , 3 younger brothers definitely loved ram a lot coz he earned it but still 3 brother went out of Ayodhya 2 set their own kingdom , shatrugan was king of mathura , lakshman was given d place known lakhanpuri now known as lucknow, bharat ka I don't know. Ram was himself an undefeated warrior & capable king
None of Pandavas ever became independent as they were bound 2 live in indraprastha as they all were married to draupadi. I don't think BANS loved yudi immensely nor did Yudi himself . As Yudi himself told what he think about his brothers in swargarohan part.
Infact ANS loved bheem unconditionally 4 sure coz he showered them unconditional love. Bheem was very protective about his brothers , an Ideal brother .
Sometimes I think if draupadi was only married to Yudi & other pandavas become independent king then indraprastha would never had been this prosperous coz arjun bheem was d reason indraprastha prosperity .
Arjun & bheem individual kingdom would has been more prosperous than indraprastha.
Regarding kauravs maybe u r right but as Andy said we don't know much about them .
I don't think Lakshman went ahead to establish his separate kingdom, Shatrughan definitely did. Bharat didn't because he was the Yuvaraj but obviously all the eight sons of these brothers did get separate kingdoms for themselves.
Pandavas were not that great warriors, I don't think Nakul Sahdev could have defeated the powerful kingdoms of those days to establish their own rule. Only Arjun and Bheem could have but obviously they couldn't go since Draupadi bound them together.
Indraprasth's prosperity depended much on BA. In fact Yudhishtir on himself didn't do much to achieve what he did
Kauravas not much is told but whenever they are shown together we see genuine feelings.
Duryodhan always said that he don't want Pandavas to get over them because that reduces the importance of his brothers
He always was shown being worrying for his brothers n their families.
Even when Vikarna opined against them in DyutSabha, they didn't tell him a word to stop him.

The love Dury had for brothers was unconditional too, it was a mutual feeling.
About Shakuni not sure, but how could he be a reason

He motivated them to right the wrongs done to Dury aka denial of being allowed to be a king despite his father being king? It would have played a big role if as a sibling I believe my elder brother whom I love a lot was wronged.

But Shakuni wasn't of that sort since the beginning. Shakuni might be a supporter of Duryodhan, but I doubt that those kids ever were threatened about not succeeding Dhritrashtra.
In fact BORI has even removed the Yuvrajibhishek of Yudhishtir prior to Varnavrat. They just planned Varnavrat because the popularity of Pandavas was rising.
Shakuni actually suggested Duryodhan to have friendly relations with Pandavas. He asked Duryodhan to return Indraprasth to Pandavas after Gowsha Yatra and stay in friendly relations with them
Actually Shakuni has been given much of undue importance. He wasn't much more important than Dusshashan if you remove his necessity in Dice game
