Salim Merchant: Bhushan Kumar scrapped our music completely
In a chat with BT, composer Salim Merchant of Salim-Sulaiman, agreed with what Sonu said and shared how just a couple of years ago, they had to face the music mafia too. “The music industry is pretty much in the same boat as Bollywood. Big music lables do not interfere usually with the music or the composers of the films and only sometimes they may tell us to include one of the songs from their bank. But a T-Series says, ‘Salim-Suleiman ko hi nikal do. We will get our composers and singers’.”
...He (Salim's friend) took the film to Bhushan who liked the story and agreed to co-produce it. But he said 'scrap the music' and 'let’s start afresh'! I don’t know what personal agenda or animosity he has against us, he scrapped our music completely. Yeh toh sirf meri kahani hai. There are many who have gone through this.”
He adds, “Bhushan has a personal problem with everybody and he wants to only work with his artistes and composers. What Sonu is saying is absolutely right, it has been going on for a while now -- easily five years – this injustice with creative people, singers getting dubbed because they are not part of the artist roster his label has.”
End of the article.
Can't post the entire thing, I-F apparently says there are abusive words but I found none after proof reading it multiple times!
