Why Music Review is good for increasing one's popularity?

Hello Everyone, I've seen many music-related website who offers music review option where they review musicians latest music and share their opinion about the music. Mostly I've seen that some of the music is not that good but still the websites still good reviews. So I don't know whether it's a good option through which one should promote his/her music or not? Like there are many good music websites as well who are genuine, but still is it a good option or not?
