IMHO, talking only about my reaction, others may or may not identify with this:
Disliking a person and wanting them to lose their life are completely different things. I don't like a lot of 'celebs' and 'even people I know in real life' but that does not mean I will rejoice their death. No hatred/dislike is above someone's life.
I mentioned this in another thread too, I never liked SSR, but his death made me sad coz it was totally avoidable. A life was snuffed out abruptly. For me its about the unfairness of it all.
You eventually somehow make peace with natural deaths/accidents/illnesses since they were really not in anyone's control; but knowing that someone was pushed to suicide is something completely different. We are all emotional beings at the end of the day, it will affect us.
Nepotism and blinds have always been a part of Btown (been seeing it since I joined IF years ago), and everyone on IF has taken part in guessing them; I know I have. But the fact that this can have such a disastrous effect is something that became a reality with what happened in case of SSR. None of us voiced out that blinds should be banned before this or they were harmful, now we do.
Also, his fight with depression and loneliness touched a cord with people, who have faced bullying or nepotism in their own life. So the rage is also (in a way) against every bully that exists in the society, who makes life difficult for people just for their own sadistic pleasure. Mental health issues are more common than people care to admit openly, incidents like this triggers the outrage. It just reminds you of what you have gone through in life personally and kept it within you, coz you felt you could not share it with anyone.
Also, the blinds did their bit in solidifying the rotten opinion I had of him.
Also, even now, I don't think I am automatically going to 'adore the hell' out of every outsider just because they are outsiders. Like Nawaaz, he has completely lost my respect after the kind of things he wrote in his Biography. I have not seen any of his films since.
Opinions about actors are formed by what we see of them on social media or the perceptions we build of them from what we hear about them from others/media. We will never know them personally to realize how much of what we 'think is true' is actually true: negative or positive, works both ways. I may adore a celeb to death but only people close to her/him might be aware of what horrible people they are.
