posting this coz as all sorts of rumours are going around of sushant being offered films that ranveer eventually did. Sushant himself said he was never offered befikre, and even if he was offered he would have said no to it. Whether he was offered ramleela only slb can answer that, coz that seems to be a rumour at the moment that nobody has confirmed, but i dont think he was offered BM and padmavat, coz if he was was he wouldn't have said no to them. Plus ranveer and deepika said they were offered BM while they were filming ramleela and they were offered padmavat while they were filming BM.
And even if sushant was offered ramleela, something happend that meant sushant couldn't do the film, so slb moved on and offered the movie to ranveer, and ranveer sais yes, this does not mean ranveer took the movie from sushant, ranveer was offered the film fair and square, and he had every right to accept the offer.
Plus there are reports that sushant couldn't do ramleela coz he was committed to doing paani, so its likely sushant turned down the offer coz he didn't have the dates and couldn't commit to doing ramleela at that time
HT Exclusive | Had I been offered Befikre, I wouldn’t have done it: Sushant Singh Rajput
Rumours are rife that you were supposed to work in Befikre and that you were offered the film first…
"Let me clear it once and for all. I was never offered Befikre. But had I been offered, I wouldn’t have done it. I know it’s easier to decide after the results are out but I have a reason. If the same production house is offering me a niche film like Detective Byomkesh Bakshy (2015), I would do it because Dibakar Banerjee (director) has a different interpretation of the old classic; and I would do a Paani where Shekhar Kapur (film-maker) will be raising a very important and immediate issue…
If Befikre was representing the new-age youth of India and romance as what it was claiming, it would have been great irrespective of the box-office numbers. But unfortunately, it didn’t do that, and hence I would not be interested. I am not suggesting that films should only reflect reality (like Pink, Neerja, or Dhoni biopic). They could also be totally fanciful yet great films like The Jungle Book (2016), which was also very popular. But it’s extremely important to know and then claim what you have made. It’s a wonderful new India, and it is reflecting in the way we are bridging the gap between our ‘hits’ and ‘good’ films."
And here are some pics of Ranveer at the premiere of sushants debut film Kai po che, Ranveer has always been supportive of his contemporaries in the industry
