Coz in brc & star bharat both showed after killing susharma , who drove arjun away , he was not feeling nice , he felt something wrong had happened.

Not just that he was better than Karna but he was also filled with rage by the deceit killing his father.

I think Duryodhan naming Karna as CIC was more of an emotional decision than tactical

If Dury had made Ass the CIC then there would have been two power centers, One behind their CIC and second Karna with his people because he was better warrior and they were at loggerheads

With Karna as CIC, the second power center (Ass) wasn't as strong

Both weren't strong leaders, Bhishma and Drona had united troops

It seems to have changed after dice hall. Kunti called Yudhishtira a coward to Krishna. She asked Arjuna and Nakula to follow Panchali's instructions. Nothing for Bheema and Sahadeva, but Bheema already did, and Sahadeva was already very intelligent.

But wouldn't the same happen if Ashwathama was made CIC? Second power house Karna wouldn't be strong. Anga army wouldn't have been big enough to make much affect

Kripacharya would be favouring his nephew. Shalya doesn't seem to have good regards for Karna either.

Karna was building goodwill among the Kaurava army, after Bhishma's death they were afraid of Arjuna, he gave them a long speech and a promise to protect them, same after Drona's death, I think some of them would have backed Karna

Karna wasn't there for 10 days so Ass fought without problem

Karna was there both fought under leadership of Drona

Next is Karna as CIC, even if Ass didn't like it, he didn't have support of the army because they were with their king and Karna had goodwill among them

Reverse the situation, Ass made the CIC.

Shalya remains a warrior not reduced into a mere Charioteer

Kripacharya more involved because his nephew is the CIC

Army having seen the strength exhibited by Dronacharya are sure that his son would show equal valour. Plus a sympathy factor for him after seeing the deceit. As it is they support the king/Yuvaraj (why is Dury mentioned as king so many times though)

Plus you are getting a better CIC
