There have been studies show that any type of virtual discourse is often more harsh. Not being able to see the other person react to the pain of your words dehumanizes things. That is why ideally protest should occur offline. But with this coronavirus thing it is difficult. And they can be ignored. Social media gets you heard but there will be consequences of people defaming the entire cause with their personal attacks that go way too far!!

I wish that were true but all twitter viral posts get lifted and posted to Whatsapp groups. Someone like my mom who has zero interest in celebrities and never knows any gossip is getting petitions in groups to boycott various celebrities. The notion that the film industry is evil and killed Sushant is everywhere now.

Whatapp exists in every small town in India. It's everywhere. They even translate the twitter posts into Hindi and make memes out of them and forward them to hundreds of groups.

True but the end result is do people care even after the whatsapp forwards? Otherwise no one would have even gone to watch VDW after the whole placard incident given how active the IT cell was during that time. Same with Chapaaak after the Jnu incident. It ultimately boils down to whether people care or not and the fickle minded that the audience is, they forget things quickly. Otherwise Dangal wouldn't have been an ATBB.

Sorry the notion is not that the film industry killed Sushant. The notion I keep here is the isolation and sabotage lead to his depression. In every field, even where their is nepotism involved, a job that you are passionate about should lead to anxiety not depression. The fact that he was depressed indicates that nepotism was taken to a whole another level. At most in the other fields a boss's child will get a promotion over you. Nobody will try to make it so you don't get work at all in the future. The fact that he lost seven films after the success of Chichore is saying something. That fact that he himself said he felt excluded is saying something. The fact that he would tweet things like, "Please watch my films or they will kick me out of Bollywood is saying something." It means there must have been something different in this field and the level of hostility nepotism creates for outsiders.
