गेले काही दिवस बॉलीवूडमधून सतत वाईटच बातम्या येत आहेत. गीतकार योगेश, संगीतकार वाजिद यांचे निधन विसरण्याआधीच नामवंत पटकथालेखक, दिग्दर्शक बासू चटर्जीही आज गेले. बडीबडी स्टार मंडळी न घेता, शूटिंगसाठी नयनरम्य ठिकाणे न निवडता, हाणामारीची दृश्ये नसतानाही चांगला सिनेमा बनवता येतो हे बासूदांनी दाखवून दिले. शहरी मध्यमवर्गीय तरुणाईच्या भावभावनांना नर्मविनोदी शैलीत सादर करणाऱ्या बासूदांनी छोटी सी बात, रजनीगंधा, चितचोर, शौकीन, चमेली की शादी, खट्टामीठा, बातों बातों में, मंझिल असे अनेक सुंदर चित्रपट दिले. अमोल पालेकर, झरीना वहाब, विद्या सिन्हा, टीना मुनिम, के के रैना, अन्नू कपूर,पंकज कपूर, इरफान खान, सुप्रिया पाठक अशा कलाकारांना त्यांनी संधी दिली. एक रुका हुआ फैसला वा कमला की मौत असे त्या काळातील सामाजिक प्रश्नांवर भाष्य करणारेही चित्रपट त्यांनी बनवले. हृषीकेश मुखर्जी, बासू भट्टाचार्य यांच्या परंपरेतील बासूंदानी वैशिष्ट्यपूर्ण सिनेमे दिग्दर्शित करून आपली स्वतंत्र ओळख बॉलीवूडमध्ये निर्माण केली.

आज से पहले, जब दीप जले आना, कई बार यूं भी देखा है, कोई रोको ना दीवाने को, न जाने क्यूं होता है ये जिंदगी के साथ, थोडा है थोडे की जरुरत है, रिमझिम गिरे सावन... अशी गाणी लागतील तेव्हा बासूदा आठवत राहातील. संपूर्ण परिवारासोबत पाहणे शक्य होईल असे चित्रपट आता क्वचितच बनतात. बासूदांनी मात्र सदैव याच प्रकारचे चित्रपट बनवले.

म्हणूनच ते वेगळे वाटायचे...

I watched Khatta Mitha past weekend for the 30th time. His work will always be remembered for simple stories, regular actors and melodious music. May his soul rest in peace.

Can one forget that middle class hero Amol Palekar without remembering his creator Basuda?

There have been many earlier attempts from individuals to send out the same message but it has not taken off. Hope this time everyone takes it to heart.

Today one of the TV News channels had a serious discussion on this topic with Sonam Wangchuk himself on the panel. One of the panelists suggested that it would be easy for the online giants like Amazon, Flipkart etc to clearly mention on the seller's pages if the product is made in China or elsewhere. This will give a choice to the buyer to buy it or look at alternatives. Once the trend picks up automatically pressure will be built up (including on brick and mortar stores) to avoid Chinese products.

The time has come to seriously look at alternatives to China wherever possible.

This might work in other fields but in technology sector(electronics hardware) it will be very difficult. AFAIK, India has no homegrown chip manufacturing and chip is the core of any electronic device. The reason is, setting up chip manufacturing plants requires huge investment in the range of 3-5 billion dollars for a single chip manufacturing plant. Samsung invested 14 billion dollars in 2014 to set up their new memory chip plant

In India there is nobody who will take that risk. Groups like Ambanis and Mahindras and others are not innovators and risktakers. They make money on natural resources(Oil and Gas) or lesser risk areas like fabrics and telecoms, banking and finance. They don't have it in them.

This is the reason the government has to step up and start a government chip manufacturing company run professionally by experts and not by bureaucrats.

There is PCB manufacturing but just PCB manufacturing won't do much in Technology.

Some other fields Government should start investing and encourage Indian private players to invest are Robotics, Artifical Intelligence, Space Research(especially asteroid mining), Deep Sea Research.

I had no idea about Dhoni, Kohli declaring in tests when they were in 90's. Kohli did declare when he was 254 and many people thought he should have gone for 300. But he might have gotten out before getting 300 or he might have got 300, that is a different issue. For Dhoni, getting a 100 in test is not a big milestone and he would get more accolades for being 'selfless' if he declares in 90 than if he goes on to score a hundred.

Stand-in skipper Dravid declared the Multan innings one over before than he was supposed to declare and it was his decision. John Wright and injured captain Ganguly had no role in it. Yuvi ate up the penultimate. Dravid called them in with one more over left before they were going to decalre. He should have waited for 6 balls as was decided in the dressing room, nothing had changed. Sachin explained it in detail when his biography was released.

Dravid did not apply the same rule to himself in 2003-04 Sydney test when he continued to bat even when Ganguly wanted to declare the innings. So team is important to Dravid when others are batting but team is not important to Dravid when he himself is batting ? That is petty behaviour.

Very Sad news indeed . He was one of my favourite directors. I used to love his shots of Mumbai, old Mumbai when the streets were not too crowded. Ironical, it took a Bengali to shoot some really good Mumbai scenes. He was a great story-teller, no gimmicks needed.

But these are serials shot in lockdown right ?

On Colors Marathi page a couple of days all the artists of their ongoing serials have put up a video that their shooting will start soon.

Lets see when all the serials will restart, maybe by end of this month.
