Ajay Devgan -- the best actor of his generation?

I think he's got the acting chops, and is extremely versatile as well. He's also (IMO) a better actor than the Khans. Subtle and restrained acting. Does anyone else find him extremely underrated?

I know he's got his due form the industry but somehow he always lags behind the Khans and Akshay Kumar in ranking.

He was underrated in vimal pan masala ad though. There are so many people who copies him, adore him & watch his ad on loop, tryin to learn. I feel, It should have given him more fame all across the world.

He is a good actor and there is nothing underrated about that aspect. People agree with it as a matter of fact, without getting into details or discussing it.

By Khan's, if one means Salman Khan, then yes he is miles ahead. Ajay is not as versatile as Aamir Khan (successful critically and commercially across genres) and within the intensity space (romance/drama), SRK is ahead, as well.

Now, Akshay vs Ajay is debatable. The former is as good in comedy as the later is in intense roles. In action I personally prefer Ajay, but Akshay is also no less.

Ajay is good in the brooding, intense angry youth roles. He can both underplay and overpay these parts and that's his strength. However, in the last decade or so, he has been sleepwalking in these parts. He doesn't do them like he used to in the earlier part of his career. Late 90's to the mid-2000's was his best phase as an actor. Even here he has disastrous Main Aisa Hi Hoon. He didn't have the commercial success as he has today, though. Ajay is going through the best stardom phase, currently.

He is still a superstar that's for sure and he has always been despite not having some incredible great looks though his eyes has always been his best factor when it comes to looks. Yeah, but in comparison to Khans and Akshay he hasn't got the same superstardom. But he also has two national awards which none of the Khans got and even Saif and Akshay's ones are controversial but his awards weren't. He had been versatile actor and always got the appreciation. But his versatility is working now, when Khans are failing at box office, he is going strong with every kind of movies, be it comedy, or periodical like Tanhaji. He has always been considered a good and versatile actor.

I think, he lacked in certain space where Khans and Akshay overtook him. His choices of movies, when Khans and Akshay were doing massy movies ,he moved to critical cinema like Gangajal, Zakhm. After 90s action movies, he came back to commercial cinema with a bang with Singham (which actually brought his superstardom back) Also he used to lot of movies in a year ,because of this he did many bad movies like Rascals, Jackson one etc. like Akshay does but Akshay has got looks as upper hand (even Akshay's credibilities went down for doing many movies). Also, despite Ajay has had his controversies but he is reserved person, not many friends from Bollywood, no camp like KJo, no appearances in award ceremonies (even Amir is the same in this department but Amir does one movie in a year and keep it in news till the movie gets released, and his movies do really well except TOH) which increases his credibility.

I find no difference between any of his films wrt acting. Same old droopy eyes, dialogue delivery and action.

I loved him in Hum Dil De chuke Sanam.

Ajay is a good actor.

Aamir is better than him.
