Not just hot milf, kareena strongholded launde lapande ,from 06-14/15, she was the most "discussed" actress on all those exbii type sites.

Oh I love this topic! Without a doubt she was a much better actress than all her contemporaries but I think the things that worked most in her favor are

1. She is such a star and lives the full star life without hiding. Her life was interesting even outside of movies and everyone always wanted to know what's up with her. She always gave people a reason to talk about her. She openly dated the new heartthrob Shahid and they were the talk of the town. They were everywhere, in movies, in chat shows, in magazines . Her hot and cold friendship with KJo got a lot of press. When she did the size zero thing that was all anyone could talk about. Was she the first actress to lose weight? no. Was she the skinniest actress to be around? I don't think so. But it was so openly talked about, it was flaunted that she became synonymous with size 0 trend. Her friendship with Amrita Arora used to be everywhere. Long before these actresses started pretending to be friends on SM for publicity she was the first actress I remember who had an actress friend. Media tracked their friendship for so long and they gave the media things to talk about. Her problems with Priyanka, her relationship with Saif were all great stories that kept her relevant. Is she the only actress who gave birth? No. But she made sure her pregnancy was different than all other actresses as she continued to work and be visible throughout it. She is not the only actor to have a kid either but Taimur is so freaking famous that many popular bollywood actors would want his type of following.

2. The second important factor for her survival is she kept going without disappearing. Everyone else seemed to take some sort of hiatus while she kept on working. Dia, Amisha, Esha, Lara, Bipasha all fizzled out but they also took these breaks. If you take a break people get distracted. They forget who you are and what your importance is. It goes for both actors and actresses.

3. Kareena had many box office failures and embarrassments but also great memorable hit movies. Her roles as Poo and Geet were iconic for our generation. Many actresses do good movies but how many roles do you remember for life by name? How many of them can you quote?!

Taimur might be a reason, but I do think the Kapoor surname and marriage to Saif are not that important factors. Mainly because I see Abhishek who was completely rejected by the audience despite his Bachchan surname and Saif is anyways a flop actor, so marrying him isn't exactly a big deal.

IMO there's a difference between the legacy created by the Kapoor family - the first acting film family of Bollywood with every generation churning out actors VS the Bachchan legacy.

Also, RE: Abhishek. I don't think the audience has rejected him. I feel its more to do with the fact that he himself appeared like he didn't take his career seriously. IMO people mock him not because they think he can't act, but because he never reached the level of stardom that his wife and his parents achieved.

I think her connection to people like Karan, Manish keep her relevant (Koffee wth Karan and showstoppers)

Family issues also keep bouncing her back to headline (in statements or pictures).

It's her or Katrina who look good with Salman, Akshay, Amir. New girls with these superstars look odd, so she gets the casting on basis of better acting. Yet, she is not a crowd-puller .

She keeps herself relevant with dumb talk shows

She survived b/c she had a KJo and a group of friends that had her back and constantly gave her good roles despite her first few years of terrible acting and aging. Who can forget the scene in Yaadein when she sees an alligator and over acts the shit out of it.

But she had a good PR and good scripts come through. And her success around 2010 was b/c she opted for Khan-starring film where she only had to look pretty. Despite being a lazy actress, she has the charisma and the industry support to push her through. Sonam-Rhea actually waited for her to deliver her baby, take mat leave and then come back to shooting. This was unheard of before.

@Abhi -- No matter what he did and no matter how good he was in Dostana, Guru, Yuva, Bunty aur Babli..he was never AS good as his father, which is why he has and will never get his due. He was brillant in Manmarziyan.

@Esha---she never got the support despite being a very decent actress. Dhoom gave her that boost but it was obvious her family wasn't fully on board. But to be fair, she never got the charisma the Kapoor sisters did.
